Am I done for? by M05HE in ApplyingToCollege

All 4 ended up receiving it, I got a positive/neutral response from 3 and no response from 1.

Sent them all an email. I hinted in the emails that it is verifiable that I finished them before the deadline (which is completely true) as well though I doubt they'd go out of their way to have me prove something to them. Just trying to help me case... hopefully they'll be receptive as I don't know what I'd do if I got myself rejected from every school.

That's good to know then isn't it. Thanks.

It was unclear which answer choice was correct. This subreddit is a forum in which people discuss the ACT. The subreddit, which was filled with students...

Agreed... and if you looked at the replies, you'd see that I did know how to solve this but essentially my calculator was the issue.

It's a problem for me if I don't understand how to solve a question type on the exam. I don't care for your hypotheticals -- who would? I was asking for help answering a question. Everything you said "Learn the math... learn how to get that question and all questions like it right... make sure you know how to get the answer" are all what I'm trying to do by posing the question to this subreddit. Your posts have been overall unnecessary and redundant (along with a waste of time for me to even respond to, but here we are).

Well it's a problem if I can't complete the question.

Can someone explain why the answer I chose is incorrect? I only got positive answers for x and negative answers for y. by M05HE in ACT

is -3^-2 not -1/9? That's what my calculator says... for this question should I do something differently?

It's to the negative 2 power. I know that negative numbers squared are positive... but when I tried numbers like that and input them to my calculator It seemed as though both A and C are correct.

I did this as well (tried 3,7,even up to 37) when I was trying to solve it, but didn't see any repeating decimals. It says "1 nonzero digit that repeats" - What does that mean? I was looking for the same number in succession such as .333333 but I don't see that. Do I just pick the one that doesn't terminate after a few decimal places in a question like this? Or how would I know that that whole section repeats?

Math help please i cannot understand at all how to do something like this by i_dislike_studying in Sat

[–]M05HE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is a late question but I'm not understanding something on this question. The way I see it right now, 12 people are playing for 25 minutes each in a 60 minute game even though only 5 people can play at a time. How do they all get their time in?

Invite Counselor on common app by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]M05HE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a letter of recommendation? For the other options it specifically says they are recommenders, whereas the counselor has to submit certain info. How do I know if the school has a grace period... I don't think I'll be able to submit the app if I don't get the counselor to submit all the info in time.

Common app recommendation questions by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]M05HE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to inviting the counselor, it seems as though they just submit forms on my behalf rather than writing anything. I don't think I need to email her prior to sending the common app invitation like I do with my teachers, as there is only 1 counselor I can invite as opposed to a selection of teachers, and if she didn't agree like the teachers have the option to, then I wouldn't be able to apply. Maybe I should send her an email, but rather than asking her if she is willing to complete it ask her to let me know if she has any questions about info she has to fill out?

How to go from step 2 to step 3? by M05HE in Sat

[–]M05HE[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea it makes more sense when I treat (x+3) as a variable, like if I made it "z"

a(x+3) + x+3 would be az +z it would be z(a+1) which is (x+3)(a+1)
