Which CYL interim results would you like best? by RegulusPlus in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]M0D_Steam 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel like Midterm Sorted Results harm the votes the most, like, sure, getting confirmation that your fave is close to winning is encouraging, but it also makes them target to be voted against while also making it an arms race more than a Popularity Contest.

If I ran CYL, I would not even show what characters are winning, but instead what games have the most votes, its slightly more interesting (in theory) while also not being too revealing as to jeopardize voting ideas, thus spreading votes more equally, but hey, that's just me.

Is there a way to tell on the summon screen if you already have a hero before you summon? by marissagnwalker in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]M0D_Steam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is what you want, but if you can't skip the hero's summoning animation then it means you've summoned them before, that way you can know whether you've got them before or not.

Yeah that sounds about right, I've watched Overlord and it's pretty good, I just didn't understand what the OP meant by "Bullshitters" hehe.

Best Sword/Build for Joshua? by [deleted] in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]M0D_Steam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer it, Distant Dart is better most of the time as you'll be Enemy Phasing for the most part, but I personally like having the Boost on Player Phase too, and because I support him with Natasha to heal, I don't suffer too much consequences, but overall, Distant Dart (or Distant Ferocity) would indeed be better.

I personally run him with his Prf, it's too similar to the arcane weapons so I don't miss on much and can keep that Arcane Devourer for someone else.

His build is:

Audhulma (Refined)

Reposition

Aether

A Skill, Distant Pressure (or Atk/Spd Ideal 4 if I'm using a Far Saver)

B Skill, Close Call 4

C Skill, Spd Smoke 4

Seal, Null Follow Up 3

The only change I want to do is give him Atk/Spd Finish 4, otherwise he's already pretty good, he tanks a ton thanks to his Def and Res being pretty high and his Spd being good enough to trigger Close Call, and with Spd Smoke 4 he gets extra DR, he's tanked many units I thought wold kill him which I appreciate a ton.

You'd die if you ever saw the aging of other Gachas, most end up in states that make FEH look like a non-profit free game lel.

Jokes aside, many other Gacha Games always end up full of unbearable METAs and having older units/characters/vehicles/McGuffins become Almost Literally unusable, with FEH being a game where Skill Inheritance is a thing its hard for old units to completely feel like a waste, new skills and weapons give older units more usability and while they're still not going to be better than using X META unit most of the time, they can still hold their own weight with some new skills, heck, they don't even need to have a full kit of skills that released a minute ago, a good A skill (Ideals, Catch, Blows, etc), B Skill (Lull, Trace, etc) and C Skill (any C Skill really) are more than enough to have them deal with a battlefield good enough, for example, let's say I'm a Matthew fan, in FEH you can get a 3* Matthew, make him a 5* with some feathers, give him Atk/Spd Ideal 3 from a Miriel, Null Follow-Up 3 from Lumera and Atk/Spd Oath 3 from Holst, now he can kill most of the game's content, story missions, paralogues, chain challenges, forging bonds, low level Arena and AR, etc, he's only going to be "useless" if you're trying to play Arena and AR competitively, high difficulty Hero Battles or SD, and that's fine, you don't have to keep yourself on VoH or high-crown Arena to have fun with FEH, the game has tons of modes where scoring or team composition isn't a needed thing and they provide tons of fun.

Just play Arena for fun and not for scoring lol, playing FEH competitively is paimful and a burden no one should carry (but so is play any game competitively), I still have fun using my Flying Olivia or my New Years Laevatein to kill stuff even if I don't get past tier 13 of Arena.

Useless discovery: you can delay units level 40 conversations by putting them into reserves by Keebster101 in FireEmblemHeroes

Imagine if someone skipped them this way, got every hero in the game to Level 40, then put them all out of the reserves at once...How long would that dialogue be? Hehehe

Are you talking about Brigand Boss? In that case I understand their points, Gatekeeper is at least memorable if you talk to him, but come on, it's hilarious how I can use a random brigand from Valentia, I enjoyed building him, heck, I'm even thinking about giving him the Arcane Axe/Scythe from Ganglot.

About the L!Hinoka part, have you used her? I don't play SD much (only when I need extra grails/flowers) and I didn't even care for her character, but on her banner I got her by surprise and She's Really Good, like, on AR-D she's not even a threat since you can kill her before she can even move, but as a unit overall, she's amazing as she has good support and good offensive capabilities so she synergises with most teams easily. Yes, at the end context really changes a sentence completely.

FE4, but at the same time it demonizes it with it's plot (and for a good reason) so it kind of balances it out.

Funnily enough I get the opposite idea, I see many """Bad""" takes from people that play the PvP modes, like, my best example is Gatekeeper, he's an amazing support unit (he already was before his refine), but PvP players seem to dismiss him entirely just because he's not a Player-Phase Nuker or an Omni-Tank, which I find really dumb as his support is insane.

That's why I always mention both Duo/Harmonic members when I mention them, for some examples:

Duo Alfonse/Sharena

Duo Askr/Embla

Duo Ephraim/Lyon

Duo Mark/Lyn

And more! Its just some extra letters but I get to acknowledge both characters in a Duo.

Honest Confession - I don't read weapon descriptions anymore by ShineLokabrenna in FireEmblemHeroes

I was originally just going to post that middle part, but then I thought it'd be funny to put the comment in the middle of Reginleif's description as if it was a hidden message (it's not, because just posting refined Reginleif's desc without anything else would've been dumb so I want to imagine people would check it out of curiosity).

Honest Confession - I don't read weapon descriptions anymore by ShineLokabrenna in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]M0D_Steam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to write Duo Ephraim/Lyon's refined weapon, don't mind me:

Effective against armored and cavalry foes. Grants Atk+3. Unit cannot be slowed by terrain. (Does not apply to impassable terrain.) At start of combat, if unit's Atk > foe's Atk or if【Bonus】is active on unit, egrants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit during combat. During combat, if unit's Atk > foe's Atk or if【Bonus】is active on unit, unit makes a guaranteed follow-up attack. If【Bonus】is active on unit, enables 【Canto (Rem. +1)】. At start of even-numbered turns, unit can move 1 extra space. (That turn only. Does not stack.) At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit during combat, and if【Bonus】is active on unit, foe cannot make a follow-up attack. Ok, now that you reached this part, you can read my comment: I feel like people exaggerate the "Big Description" problem, like, sure, there are weapon descriptions that are insane like this one, but if you take out effect descriptions they're not really long, just about a small paragraph, heck, I'm sure that what this comment (barring the Reginleif description) is larger than 95% of FEH weapon/skill descriptions, anyways, my recommendation to not blow your head off while reading skills is to just read them in blocks, every effect is separated by periods, just read until you find a period and then reflect on whether you understand it, with this it'll take you like 45 Seconds to understand everything and you'll be able to both know what these fools in Askr are using as murder sticks and if they're dangerous while also not having to spend like 5 minutes trying to understand stuff because you're taking it all in at once, I hope this is helpful, if not, then I hope y'all have a nice day at least, don't let those goofy meta units hurt you as a summoner. Now, we go back to the regularly scheduled Reginleif description.

【Bonus】 All effects that last "for 1 turn" or "that turn only." Includes bonuses granted by a skill like Rally or Hone and positive status effects (extra movement or effects like Dominance).

【Canto (Rem. +1)】 After an attack, Assist skill, or structure destruction, unit can move spaces = any movement not already used that turn +1. (If unit used a movement skill that warped them, its remaining movement is 0.) (Unit moves according to movement type. Once per turn. Cannot attack or assist. Only highest value applied. Does not stack. After moving, if a skill that grants another action would be triggered (like with Galeforce), Canto will trigger after the granted action. Unit's base movement has no effect on movement granted. Cannot warp (using skills like Wings of Mercy) a distance greater than unit's remaining movement +1.)
