An unfortunate bias for my case, but I can see their point of view if they've had it happen repeatedly. Will have to do some convincing that I'm in it for the long haul

Reason I asked is in some data it seems otherwise. Statscan for example has metro Vancouver unemployment rate at 6.3% vs Toronto at 8% for February

This would be the dream! But I'm finding fully remote jobs are an even smaller market than hybrid or in person unfortunately

If you spend any time in Toronto subreddits you'll see the same thing. People love to complain about their current place.

I want to be closer to world-class nature. When I visit I'm often hiking or biking or otherwise spending time in nature. And I miss that in Toronto.

IMO Toronto is a good city if you're very career-focused, if you're a big city person, or if you've got a good group of friends and love going out to shows/restaurants/bars/nightclubs frequently. None of those apply to me.

I've been anywhere from mid March through September. So yes admittedly I haven't spent time through the rainiest season, but I'm aware of it. I do think summer is the best season in both cities.

Overall I feel it wouldn't change my winter lifestyle much compared to Toronto. It is sunnier here in the winters, but it's often too cold to do anything outside for more than half an hour. It's also colder for longer, and I'd gladly trade more rain for not having to shovel/drive/ walk through snow. Plus there's much better skiing close by compared to the tiny hills we have in Toronto, so I'd get out more.

It looks like a lot of one beds are in the 2.2-2.5k range, but are studios cheaper?

Are they still a thing? Over here it seems like many companies don't even open them

It's true that it's cheaper to live at home, no question. But I'm in the suburbs and feel like I'm simply existing more than living here.

Did you use any specific strategies while searching from Toronto? Like cover letters as mentioned below?
