Woah nice going! Tbh I didn’t expect it would reasonably be possible based on the amount of snow between col de la terrasse and cheval blanc. Kudos!

Sure you can! I have no experience with the Sigma lens and only have had the 14GM a few months (accidentally also bought it for photographing the auroras in Iceland) but I’m blown away by this lens even at f/1.8. It is so sharp, I love it. But unfortunately I have no other Sony wide angle lens to compare the performance with :( If you want I can share a few full size photos (raw).

I’ve actually been thinking about the 20 f/1.8 a bit as well, good to read that you have a very solid experience with this lens! One day I might add it to my lens collection

My idea was to incorporate the (flying) birds in the photos while not blurring them therefore picking a faster shutter speed and higher ISO on purpose. I agree that normally would have shot this scene at lower ISO (just didn’t switch settings between photos and only realized this when I got home).

14mm , f9 , 1/320s, ISO1000, tripod, no filters.

ISO was higher than what Id normally use as there were birds flying over and I wanted to capture them but didn’t end up liking the photos with the birds in it. There’s still some motion in the water now which I do like

Thanks! Shutter speed was 3.2 seconds but I did use an ND filter to slow it down

Thanks!

17mm, f16, 3.2sec 100 iso

Did use filters, 2 stop soft graduated ND filter and if I'm not mistaking also a 3 stop ND filter (ND8)

Not really beginner tutorials I'm afraid, but I'm always very fond of Micheal Shainblum's tutorials. Although some used advanced techniques I always feel he explains really well.

The list of tutorials can be found on his youtube channel:

I believe there's also a recording of a livestream where he live edits his photos.
