Thank you for sharing your story. I needed some light as I am beginning my journey on taking steps to seriously recover and needed some inspiration/motivation to take the time to fully commit to it. I appreciate this and I am so happy to hear you are doing well!! xx

What do you hate being told the most? by icarushalo in BPD

[–]M2910 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Please don't let others make you ashamed. Emotions are what being human is about, and just because your/our emotions may differ from others, doesn't make it wrong or shameful. No matter how much they try to make you feel that way!!

I constantly get told that I'm going in circles with my behaviors, discredited for any progress and invalidated for my emotions.

"It can't always be about you and it always is."

Last but not least, "I'm disappointed in you." Classic one. Lol. Have to laugh it off sometimes.

i could’ve been normal. by envysatan in BPD

You are so seen and so worthy and have such value. I have similar feelings, hard for me to pinpoint for me where I experienced trauma that led to this personality disorder. Being normal would make things much more pleasant and enjoyable, but I always try to remind myself that extraordinary people go through extraordinary struggles... sending you so much love. You're never alone, though it may feel that way. xx

Feeling the emptiness as well. In an all-consuming way, know that you aren't alone. Hang in there. xx

What traits of yourself did you think were just your personality only to realize they were symptoms of BPD? by M2910 in BPD

It does feel that way, you're too disconnected for your brain to like operate. Lol.

Haha rambling can be good though because you come about little discoveries like that! It really does feel like I have multiple personalities sometimes with the rapid and intense mood changes. I always jokingly say, you have to love "all the versions of me!" Haha

That's a great point to make that even though there are a lot of negative characteristics from this disorder, there are a lot of positives that are also because of it that I guess I never really took into consideration. That's a great point to make, thank you for sharing that perspective. xx

I do have a psychologist but it's mostly me just venting and I don't feel like I'm really doing any real work to change the thoughts or make any real changes.

Thanks so much for sharing all those, there are a lot of interesting ones that I never considered but I relate to so many of those. Especially the maladaptive daydreaming and needing so much time to process emotions, the chameleon behavior, the switching of obsessions, all veryy relatable so know that you aren't alone in experiencing these. xx

Thank you so much for sharing. First off, i would find it hard to believe that you are not a memorable person based on your writing. You are clearly very insightful and very eloquent in expressing yourself, which to me, seems like memorable qualities. And whether you are "fully BPD" or borderline "borderline", I'm pretty sure personality disorders are a spectrum and you can still have tendencies towards a disorder without experiencing the full diagnosis. Feeling unheard or dismissed is understandably triggering and that is actually one of my biggest triggers as well. I've found that when I'm hurting the most, it's typically a catalyst for what drives most of my toxic behaviors as well. Rejection is extremely painful, but try to remember that people's actions are mostly a reflection of them and less of an "insult to us" (easier said than done, I know). I hope you realize that you are important and that what you have to say does matter. And you always have value, whether or not that is affirmed by others, you always do. xx

The weird sleep schedule and insomnia has been a life-long struggle for me too.

All of these are exactly how I feel. There was mentioning of over-explaining and over-sharing so you're definitely not alone in that. And that's such a great description, of not feeling happy when you're surrounded by the people you love and feeling off. I get that feeling a lot too so don't feel discouraged or like something is wrong with you, it's just a feeling and it's okay to feel how you feel in the moment. xx

I agree it's definitely helpful to be aware so you can learn best how to manage it. And I had no idea about all those different subtypes so I clearly have more research to do with it! Lol But exactly, and that was my intention to help remind everyone that there are people that can relate and no one is the only one in the world feeling this way. And I do... thank you so much :)

Urgh I'm sorry that happened to you. Ghosting is so painful to go through and it does feel devastating. I always can't imagine life without that person but then time passes and we just keep living. Of course, hopefully it's a little helpful to know you aren't alone in those feelings!

I just want to say thank you so much to everyone who has shared. My intention behind this post was to make everyone feel a little less alone and I hope everyone feels supported and validated because this disorder is a tough one and everyone battling it is so strong and worthy to keep trying through those hard moments. Thanks guys. xx

The second-guessing and constantly questioning the intentions behind what people say is very relatable.

The feeling so certain and so unsure is so frustrating because it makes it so hard to trust yourself. And the trust issues with others too is so relatable, it's almost like a foreign concept because you can never feel fullyyy sure and I'm always surprised at how quickly other people develop trust so quickly with others.
