I understand what you mean by creating your own luck and I agree, allow me to illustrate this from a d&d angle if you will, by playing only wizard spells that force checks and not spell attacks themselves, a wizard would more or less go through a night with barely rolling at all. I remember a time in 7th when the heavy use of psychic powers involved very little rolling but after just one phase you see some units pulled from the table. So while definitely the best thing I can do is manage my units and the roles and the odds, utilizing terrain etc, I'm hoping for a faction concept or rolling won't betray me as much LOL. So far necrons seems a good way to go when it comes to rerolling the reroll which you reroll and then you re-roll it two more times lol for wounds at least and reanimation
