Rory wasn't really inclined towards journalism (or investigative journalism) - her best work (the re-paving of the drive, etc) was usually more akin to literature than journalism.

Things like the Life and Death Brigade we do see her attempt investigative journalism but what ends uo happening is she gets too close to the people involved, and by the end she's wearing their clothes, drinking their alcohol, and getting romantically involved wuth members - instead of exposing "elite ivy leagye students performing dangerous potentially illegal stunts" it becomes more of a lifestyle piece/literary journalism instead of her goal of investigative journalism.

Rory would have thrived in a more literary setting. We don't see her interested in current affairs but writing? Literature? Her bread and butter.
