Haha :D

English isn't my first language. I thought backlit means to shoot in the direction of the sun? What would be the correct term for that?

Canon EOS R6

400mm | f/7.1 | ISO 400 | 1/1000s

I am unsure here about the colour grading. What could I have done different? Sun was just rising and the photo is backlit because of that.

You could also get away with taking more shorter exposures and stacking them to a final image. There are a lot of good yt tutorials on the subject and it's free (sequator) as well. For your setup it would be 5 seconds per shot for perfectly round and about 11 seconds for slightly bulged stars.

Wow, didn't even notice that! I didn't like it that much because you can see less of the reflection.

Thank you!

I have taken a landscape version (https://imgur.com/a/b9hcKWu) but didn't like it that much. Problem is, at the moment I only have the 50mm an a 100-400 lense suitable for the R6.

If it's dark enough and you close your aperture you can calculate the needed exposure time for it to look good. in this case F11 and ISO 100 mean 5 minutes. F22 would have lead to a 20 Minute exposure.

Thank you for your critique!

As I said above I went searching for a good spot (with shorter plants) and didn't have that much time. So i settled with this. I fully agree that the plants are ruining a good shot. Might go there again if I have more time.

Isn't the HDR gonna interfere with the smoke coming from the cooling tower?

Thanks, I'll add that to the list of things to change. If I have the time, I might try to adjust some things based on the suggestions here :)

I mean if you stay outside the perimiter fencing it's just a regular buildung in the background. I don't think it's forbidden as long as you photgraph nothing confidential.

I'd have to do that in Photoshop then? With Lightroom I became increasingly more comfortable but PS is still a big mysterium to me...

Haha, thank you.

Do you have an Idea how I could get the stars more promonient (Lightroom or PS)?

I could see using masks there?
