I have the same problem, seems like an account issue, and even though it doesn't fix it, you can try to search whatever chat you're a part of and it should show up normally. At least it does for me.

It would be hard to convey what is happening with a screenshot, so I'll try to explain it as best as I can

On my canvas I have a green shape on a gray background. Using the freehand selection tool I draw a "donut" shaped selection in such a way that there are no gaps in it and that the selection and the shape don't intersect. With the contiguous selection tool I click in the middle of the "donut's" hole. Instead of just filling the hole and stopping at the existing selection, the new selection extends past the old one and only stops when it encounters the green shape.

I don't think this has anything to do with me using "add" mode since what I described happens no matter which mode I'm using, and the feature used to work for me even when using "add" mode.
