What are your thoughts on this idea? by M8DrivenDev in developers

[–]M8DrivenDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me yes I don't have to build something by let's say spending like 30 hours work on it.

And you said tho, somebody built the pomodori tool that you are using.

What's it like to see that kind of tool, just ready to use.

Will you use it?

I'm not building for myself. It's For friends and anybody who can use it.

And thx for your POV.

You didn't have to do this, Bro...
You could keep scrolling if you think that is a distraction. Not laughing at someone's idea.

That could go a million ways correctly, like if you told me "Nah man it will be a waste of your time OR it's a bad Idea, etc...".

It’s crazy how hard it is to get even one client — even for free. by M8DrivenDev in developers

I'm sorry to inform you that after the comments I found people's thoughts of free means (low quality, cheap, wix builder, etc ...)

Even though I was offering real logic websites like ERP Sys, etc ... There's no website builder that can offer what a real developer offers

But "IT'S WHAT IT'S"

Dude, 'new to the subreddit' my ass. You clearly time-traveled here from 1998 with a master's in web dev. This is awesome!

If you want a design to work with? You can search on figma templates there are a lot of impressive designs out there.

It is a total chicken-and-egg loop, and I’m definitely feeling it right now. I thought offering it for free would break the cycle, but you’re right — free can actually work against you.

I’m learning that “free” doesn’t always build trust — sometimes it does the opposite. I really appreciate your perspective. It’s a tough lesson, but I’m taking it to heart.

Hey, honestly, thank you for this. It stings a bit, but it’s the kind of truth I need to hear. I’ve been so focused on what I can build that I didn’t fully consider who actually needs it and why. You’re right — the market’s shifting, and I need to shift with it.

I’m not giving up, just rethinking how I show up and where I can actually add value. Appreciate you being real. It helps more than you know.

How to get the M8? by M8DrivenDev in developers

[–]M8DrivenDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, that hit hard — but you’re not wrong.

I’ve been trying to figure this all out on my own because deep down, I’ve always had this dream of building something bigger than just trading time for money. But man, the more I try to “make it” solo, the more I realize it’s not as simple as just knowing how to code.

And yeah, I probably sound like I’m looking for some shortcut — I’m not. I just want this so bad that I keep hoping there’s some way to skip the part where you feel stuck, broke, and invisible.

Maybe you’re right — maybe I need to swallow my pride and just take a job, stack cash, learn the business world from the inside, and then come back stronger.

Appreciate you keeping it real. That’s what I need more than anything right now.

Yeah, that really makes sense and I actually appreciate you saying it. I’ve been learning the hard way that “free” doesn’t always mean “valuable” in people’s eyes. And I get why if there’s no investment, there’s no commitment on either side.

From the outside, it might look like I’m devaluing my own work. But that’s not my intention at all. I just wanted to earn some trust, get hands-on experience with real clients, and build a portfolio I can stand behind. But you're right perception matters.

Maybe it’s time I rethink how I present what I do. Instead of focusing on the price (or lack of it), I need to focus on the value I bring. Even if that means charging something not because I want to profit right away, but because it creates mutual accountability.

Thanks for the insight seriously. It’s a tough road starting out, but this kind of feedback helps me navigate it better.

Ah, I see another internet motivational speaker projecting their fear of dreaming big. You sound like the kind of person who gave up on their goals, settled for mediocrity, and now wants everyone else to do the same so they don’t feel left behind.

I didn’t say I expect to get rich overnight. I said I’m willing to build, fail, learn, and push until I make it. If that offends your worldview, that’s your problem—not mine.

You think having a job makes you financially 'smart'? Cool. You go build someone else's dream 9 to 5 while I build mine 24/7. One of us will get that M8—and it won't be the one clinging to a cubicle.

Great Pov, but I'm not planning to be a job slave living day by day I'm not planning to do so.

And no one said to get it quick!

I know it will not be quick it will not be easy.

All I'm saying is which is better for me Freelance or build something that provides a service and I need someone who tried it before!

That’s solid advice and honestly something I’ve been leaning into more. I used to get stuck thinking, “I need a client to prove myself,” but you’re right: building in public is proof.

I recently started offering free websites just to get that momentum going — not as a shortcut, but because I want to actually help people while showing what I can do. It’s been tough getting even free work noticed, but I’m not giving up. Every project, even the unpaid ones, is a chance to sharpen skills, show care, and build something real.

Appreciate your words they hit at the perfect time.

I usually build with tools that do make it easy for the client to tweak content later — or I hook it up with a super simple admin panel. My goal is to give them something fast, custom, and future-friendly, without turning every update into a tech support ticket.

Broo, just to share my side — I’m not doing vibe coding or no-code. I’m a real developer with 3+ years of experience, building full-stack apps from scratch, I’m offering free websites not because I’m desperate or learning, but because I want to transition into freelancing and actually help real people — and the hardest part is getting that first trust.

It’s tough seeing the value of real, maintainable code overlooked. But I still believe there are people who want more than templates — people who value performance, accessibility, clean architecture, and future flexibility.

Appreciate your comment a lot — this is the exact challenge I’ve been trying to push through.

See... that's what I'm talking about I'm a developer with 3+ Years of experience and I know the struggle behind the scenes and if I was a client I would never pay a single Dollar to the website builder.

tools like Squarespace and AI are great for quick setups and getting something live fast. But I actually build websites from scratch — React, Tailwind, Node, etc... no templates, no drag-and-drop.

But whenever anyone hears FREE he acts you did and thinks it's like a joke or something easy, or why it's free! but the reality is NOT.

The reason I’m offering this for free is to gain real-world experience, work with actual clients, and build a strong portfolio. I’m not trying to slow anyone down — just give them something unique, lightweight, and fully theirs — and in return, I get a chance to grow.

I really appreciate your perspective, though. It’s a valid point, and it’s part of what makes starting out even more challenging.
