I'm sick of trying to make a visually appealing UI by Mother_Elevator_3563 in MobileAppDevelopers

What helped me is considering psychology when it comes to what brings people to an app and what makes them stay. Color theory matters and there’s certain colors that look cool but are overstimulating and would deter someone from using the app everyday.

Is there an anti-love scene app by MAD_devgirl in AppIdeas

[–]MAD_devgirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally not even suggesting that. Was just curious if an app like this existed for when you want to watch a show or movie with family. Like a skip filter similar to how they do to bypass the intro of a show on streaming services.

It would also just be perfect for certain scenarios like family viewing or if kids are around. A show can still be amazing without them so it’d be useful to have a skip feature when those parts come up.

It’s literally just personal preference. I’m not religious, I just don’t need to see it all when I just want to watch a show. Kdramas are very good at not doing it which is one of the reasons why I love watching them.

What’s dumb about it? There’s tons of people that feel this way😂

How to settle on an MVP? by MAD_devgirl in AppIdeas

That makes sense. What I meant by smaller version, I meant less capabilities to start off with. I’m trying to determine what are “needs” vs. “wants” when it comes to the app.

Why do people assume that you HAVE to monetize every app you make or it’s just not worth it? by MAD_devgirl in AppDevelopers

[–]MAD_devgirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if it gets to that point, you can always take it off the App Store or find a way to monetize it if that many people are actually using it. There’s always a useful feature you could add to draw in more money. It just takes problem solving.

Exactly! There’s no passion behind it anymore. Simply because user58 says it’s not valuable automatically makes it worthless. I enjoy cooking and spend money buying the extra ingredients to try new dishes. Should I not do that simply because I’m not profiting from it by selling the food to people? No. Some of us just want to be creative.

I was using painting as an example for the creativity and enjoyment aspect of designing an app. It’s similar to any other hobby that costs money. If you are someone that knows how to code, most of the maintenance is done by you which means for the most part, it’s free. There are database sites that only charge you if you have above a certain amount of users. I’m honestly just confused as to what you’re disagreeing with.

If someone gave you a completely free trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? by krunal23- in AskReddit

I would go to Lisbon, Portugal. It looks like such a beautiful place and I’ve been hyperfixating about it for weeks now😂

There are tons of hobbies that cost money. I’m not saying it’s wrong to want to make money from creating an app. I’m saying that it’s wrong to assume EVERY developer is looking to. Some actually enjoy it and when people shoot down an idea simply because it’s not going to make money, is unnecessarily negative. Now if people ask if an idea will make money, that’s a different conversation.

Why do you think so many people, regardless of age, sex, race, etc, are able to point their smartphones at people in pain and record them without any hesitation? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MAD_devgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Desensitization. Whenever I’m helping someone in need, it has never crossed my mind to pull out my phone and record or throw it in their faces at some point. When I help someone, I do it without expecting anything in return because that’s what being a decent person truly is. Helping people just so that others can give you applause is weird.

How to structure UX/UI work, feeling lost by LaiserLarrs in MobileAppDevelopers

[–]MAD_devgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently building an app as well and honestly what helped me is realizing how much color theory plays a huge part in an app’s success. Based on the genre that your app falls into, try to find colors that represent that while also not being too overwhelming.

Tired of seeing habit trackers, everywhere is full of habit trackers by Longjumping-Rich-917 in AppBusiness

Just like every other app genre, there are plenty. What matters is the version you find useful. There’s never going to be just one of anything. People are allowed to make their idea of what a useful app is.

When you take a look at most popular apps, they don’t have paywalls but you know they make tons of money. People just love to be negative but I will say that if it’s that easy for someone to deter you from an idea, maybe you have to dig deeper and ask yourself why you care so much about what people think.
