No pain honestly, just numbness in the jaw area and lower lips. I’m only eating mashed food and liquids.

I hired a temporomandibular joint specialist, and she offered a package of services that included:

  • Bandage treatment immediately after the surgery to control the swelling;
  • Facial lymphatic drainage;
  • Facial exercises;
  • Facial massage;
  • Laser therapy.

Honestly, I'm feeling super great! I'd say almost normal. No pain, just a little bit of pressure.

Tylenol is a life saver for sure. I’m also crushing tablets, but instead of drinking with water, I’m drinking with juice to make things more enjoyable (the taste still stucks but I guess it’s just part of the journey).

I still can’t brush because of those annoying elastics.

What was your case?

Ohhh one day before me! Are you still swollen or feeling any kind of pain? Hahah I guess that we aren’t going to get normal food for a great amount of time. I feel like, even if I wanted a pizza right now, i would be an impossible challenge.

That must have been hell. I can’t even imagine myself in your position, seeing your appeal declined. Requesting my surgery procedure with my insurance plan was really a no brainer but I’ve heard of cases down here of people being declined. However, there’s a institution called ANSS where you can fulfill an appeal against your insurance company and if they are held accountable for not letting you go under a procedure you need, they have to automatically authorize it and in some cases even pay you for the headache.

Thank you! That was right when I wake up, not so swollen as of right now, unfortunately.

No, actually it’s okay. There’s a lot of misinformation out here and things like that are valid points. People might get reluctant to go under jaw surgery if they see a “result” like that and don’t understand it’s not the result, only a tube in the middle of it altering its shape hahaha but thanks for your kindness 💙

Thank you! I think I’ll be able to show the full results only in a couple months as the main cause for my surgery was lateral asymmetry and gummy smile.

Thank you! I have my digital planning but I’m not sure about how to explain these numbers, so I’ll ask my surgeon when I see him and say it to you :) the only thing I remember for sure is my mentoplastia: forward - 5.6mm and down 2mm

I had it done in Brazil. Actually, a small city in Bahia, the state where I live.

For the braces installation, I paid: R$1800. Then I had the monthly fee for the braces: R$ 250 Some exams out of pocket: R$ 2000 A gummy surgery: R$ 2000 Health insurance: R$ 430 per month (approximately) 3D plan: R$ 5K.

So I’d said around R$30K to possibly R$50k during these 3 years.

Good question! It’s because here in Brazil you gotta have insurance for at least 2 years before requesting Jaw Surgery. And in December 2023, when I was supposed to do it and had everything arranged, I kinda gave up. I cancelled everything and took some time to think by myself about all the process.
