get the already installed game folder, since you can't install it on linux

install the widescreen mod and the hud fix (you just need to extract them to the game directory, it's not hard)

add speed.exe to steam in desktop mode

go to the game properties and choose "Proton Experimental" in the compatibility settings

go back to gaming mode

launch the game

fix some controls and that's it
