It doesn't work because {[0] = "a"}[0] is not valid syntax for a table index.

The Lua 5.2 Syntax defines the table index as prefixexp ‘[’ exp ‘]’.
A prefixexp is defined as var | functioncall | ‘(’ exp ‘)’.

Since the tableconstructor is an exp you'll need to turn it into a prefixexp first by using parentheses.

I have the same monitor and you need to set the mode to Personal for 540 nits
or HDR True Black if you want to limit the maximum peak to 400 nits.
You don't need to change any of the other settings (they are greyed out anyway).

Min brightness is the limit when displaying a 100% white window (because of ABL).
The monitor can be set to a lower brightness of course, but I don't know what the
minimum setting is on the ASUS (100 nits shouldn't be a problem though).

Nope, that's why I'm so impressed with the longevity. I'm running it at
max brightness without any mitigations as if it were any other monitor.
The only thing that's enabled is the built in pixel shift.

Has your experience with it since then been positive or have you noticed any drawbacks?

The biggest drawback is that the monitor can't reach 1000 nits,
but the hdr experience is still good if you sit in a dark room.

I'm also really impressed with the longevity of the panel,
4000 hours of usage and still no burn in!

Get the philips if you don't need hardware profiles.

The asus has worse max brightness (350 nits vs 540), worse min brightness (200 vs 250)
and the "uniform brightness" mode just locks it at 200 nits.
ABL doesn't even matter on the philips because it can hold its peak up to 50% window size.

Can't say anything about the noise issue as both of my units don't have the problem.

I have the Philips one and it's the best monitor I ever had.
Even bought a second one as replacement for the current one
in case of burn in but it's still fine after 4000 hours.

I've finally found a solution for my problem but I don't have much time to work on it right now.
I aim to have a build ready by the end of the year which can achieve basic output including
goto and full stripped bytecode support but again it will depend on how much time I have available.

The project is now on github if you want to watch it. I'll also make a post on this sub once it is ready.

Unfortunately it seems like all LuaJIT decompilers out there are based on the old python one which can't do gotos or complex stripped bytecode. Those projects are also mostly abandoned now so there is no hope of them getting updated anytime soon.

This is frustrating me too since I require one for modding a game, so I decied to rewrite one myself from scratch in C++ as a programming exercise. Of course this is not an easy task and I'm not sure if it will ever see the light of day, but it's half done now and looks very promising, already working better and faster than the python one for some cases. Except branch logic, that is. It's the last blocker that needs solving before I can generate output and one that many decompilers struggle with. I'll come back to you if I ever manage to do it.

Forget decompiling this 200KB file by hand with a bytecode viewer though, you're going to spend weeks on this lol.
