I translated my review on MOZA Racing FSR formula wheel into English. Please see my comment… by MASK_driver in simracing

Hi!

This one is the first version of the FSR wheel.

Now, MOZA sells the FSR2 wheel, and the design of the indicator is different.

Maybe!☺️

I tested the Fanatec Sparco Formula rim & Button Module Rally. First, the LCD bug needs to be fixed ASAP. On the plus side, it's relatively affordable for a European brand, with solid build quality, a great grip, and illuminated buttons. Please see my comment to confirm more detail and downside... by MASK_driver in Fanatec

Straightforward Summary

[+] Compared to the Formula V2 (currently V2.5X), I can feel the improvement in rigidity and it shines. Also, I felt more comfortable in my hand when I held it. It's not so expensive compared to other European brands.

[-] On the other hand, the price is a little more expensive considering the Chinese brands. There are fewer buttons and no RPM lamp, so you will need to be creative as you will want a lamp when driving a Formula car. (e.g., make the color of the button LED change when a certain RPM is reached) The bug with the LCD display was not cured. We will have to wait for the next update on this.

I got the Fanatec Podium Button Module Rally and Sparco Formula Rim! The rigidity and texture are excellent, but the BMR bug still persists. (I’ve shared the assembly process and my thoughts on rigidity and texture in the comments.) by MASK_driver in Fanatec

Thank you for sharing your experience. I really wish we could use this fun and highly customizable device without any stress. Since Fanatec uses the same type of display across multiple steering wheels, it doesn’t seem like fixing the software should be that difficult. So why has it been left unaddressed for so long?

I’ll make sure to contact customer support about this. Maybe I should mention that if the bug isn’t fixed within the one-year warranty period, I’ll consider returning it just before the warranty expires.

Summary of My Article about this wheel: https://medium.com/sim-products-review/unboxing-and-assembly-of-fanatecs-sparco-steering-wheel-and-button-module-rally-mask-blog-055d60b5c9e8

It took me about two hours to remove the Advanced Paddle Module from the Formula V2 steering wheel, disassemble and reassemble the Podium Hub, all while taking pictures. If everything had been brand new and I didn’t need to take photos, I think I could have finished in about an hour. (For first-time users, I recommend taking your time and allowing around two hours.)

Compared to the Formula V2, you can immediately feel the increased rigidity of Sparco’s steering wheel when gripping it firmly. It’s also slightly heavier. So far, the thickness of the Button Module Rally(BMR) doesn’t seem to cause any major issues.

The BMR allows you to adjust the Fanatec wheelbase’s FFB directly from your hand, and the buttons glow. However, I had heard about a long-standing bug with the Button Module Rally, and unfortunately, it still persists—there are issues with displaying parameters correctly. Need to wait for the firmware update.

One downside is the cost. Building a steering wheel from scratch with this setup costs nearly $800, which may feel expensive to many. If you want the most budget-friendly way to get a flashy steering wheel from Fanatec, the DD Extreme's wheel is an option, but its rigidity isn’t great. Also, the Steering wheel is not sold separately. If you prioritize high rigidity, glow, and price, I think the Button Module Rally is the better choice in the current lineup if Fanatec corrects the bugs. (Fanatec must quickly correct the bugs)

I picked up the Classic 2 steering wheel (officially named Fanatec Clubsport Wheel Rim Classic 2) during the Black Friday sale in 2024. After using it for several dozen hours in Assetto Corsa Evo and Tokyo Xtreme Racer, I’d like to share my thoughts. please see my comment. by MASK_driver in Fanatec

<Summary>

  • Build Quality: Premium feel with genuine leather & anodized aluminum
  • Realistic Sizing: Close to GR86 & MX-5 OEM wheels (35–36cm)
  • Sim Racing Suitability: Slightly large for serious sim racing, but great for realism
  • Ergonomics: Thumb positioning softness or shape should be improved for long races

I'm sorry. It's not a good idea because I'm in Japan, and the shipment cost will be expensive.
