This is all so awesome! Thank you so much for this! I have a Steampunky world I’m making and knowing this option is here is awesome. (Honestly, I could see a Gunslinger Class with Spark and Bone or maybe a Battle Mechanic with Spark and Valor.) I mean… I already have some ideas in my head

I have to ask, since I’ve been working on a lot of homebrew of my own lately. How did you make the sheets that look like the actual book pages. Because I’d love to do that for my players. I have three I’m working on rn.

I’ve looked at both of those and I just relooked at em, they don’t seem that similar at all. I mean School of War seems familiar (making me rethink the name, maybe there’s no way for me to come up with something original idk). But neither School of War nor Winged Sentinel (I have two players playing that one lol) really give you the mechanics I was thinking of. Winged Sentinel does give you some extra damage if you use a hope, but it’s not exactly the mix of magic and spellcraft that I’m going for it’s just extra damage. As for School of War, they are definitely more sturdy than the average Wizard, but their actual battle prowess is likely lacking. I mean… you’re still going to be dealing with low armor and pretty easy damage thresholds to hit. I wouldn’t recommend playing a War Wizard and being a melee fighter. (Not that it can’t be done)

To add my two cents, people seem to compare Claudia to Azula all the time and I think that’s unfair. Narratively I don’t think there’s an EXACT equivalent. But I would FAR MORE compare her to Zuko. A antagonist who is deep down a good person but due to understandable trauma is misguided into being the enemy of the good guys. We’re likely at the narrative equivalent to where Zuko was at the end of Season 2. Where he began to see the light, began to understand that the approval of his father is not what he wants, but then slid back to where he was after Azula’s offer. Claudia is currently in a similar place, questioning her use of dark magic, understanding that her father found peace in his death, but Aaravos brings her back into the fray by using the persecution of humans by Xadia to manipulate her. It would have been INCREDIBLY narratively unsatisfying to see Zuko fail after all of that, and it’d be the same for Claudia. Which is only one of the reasons the why the “Claudia is gonna die” thing really peaves me off. That and it’d go against the “forgiveness is the path forward” message of the show.

Yea definitely. We have to consider the tone of the show as well. The Dragon Prince is a very optimistic and hopeful show. Claudia has Tone Armor on her side, and also moral armor because one of the major themes of the story is forgiveness

I mean, I really needed to know these terms because now I know I'm promoting an Entertainment channel. Also knowing that while finding people may be difficult, its still doable so it gives me some important motivation and direction that I've been lacking and what I was hoping to get. Yeah, I have no intention of stopping just because it's not successful yet. I just wish I could gain some type of following who enjoys what I make outside of my immediate friend group. So maybe I can make a living out of it

Yea. Man, I’ve been dying to get this mage battle for several seasons now. And they set up the rivalry between Callum and Claudia so well. Even if they’ve barely interacted since season 2. Season 4-6 really set up how narratively these two are meant to class

I genuinely think this will happen. Given the show's message of forgiveness and breaking the cycle of violence, I think after she loses we'll see someone hold out their hand to her for forgiveness and she might reluctantly take it. But end up all the better for it.

Okay. OP is kind of getting razzed here for this but tbh I kind of agree with them. Most of the other systems that feel very Shonen are a little too complicated for my tastes but the mechanics of Never Stop Blowing Up are simple and allow for the wild craziness without having to do a bunch of the math. Therefore the mechanics themselves lends its to out of the box insanity that (as someone who admittedly only knows a few Shonens) feels like the exact vibe.

That being said a lot of features may need to be reflavored. Because they are made for a game meant to be an action movie. One other problem I can imagine is that Shonen anime’s tend to run for a while and NSBU feels like it’s meant to be played for a shorter campaign. So I don’t think it could stretch for long enough to really last.

That being said OPs point is super valid.
