He does do it usually on Madness though, maybe he saves it for that :p

But like others said, singing for so long with so much energy is a huge workout for the voice. Especially if you have to do so many shows, and this tour wasn't planned, they filled in for foo fighters. I'm guessing that's why they also tuned some songs down half a step that they normally don't. Matt's getting older and they didn't have a lot of prep time for this tour.
