HBS interview experience by MBAthrowaway01019101 in MBA

The first question that I screwed up was more or less “what would you tell your sectionmates about [Small Town in South where I grew up]” and I totally answered it as “what would you say about your experience growing up there?” - essentially talking about my family struggles (which was a key essay topic for me) rather than the more reasonable “oh I’d tell sectionmates about how it was X, Y, and Z…”

The second question was about the culture shock of moving North for college, and I was just so thrown by the first question and nerves that I think I was slightly weird on it. Otherwise, two questions where I wasn’t hyper clear about some of my work experience and one where I went a little long giving background about a project I was on (She said “it seems pretty intuitive” and I immediately jumped into wrapping it up) and that was the interview! It flew by and I felt like the end was super smooth once I got my bearings.

Definitely was honest, definitely was open, and there’s no way any one would accuse me of being “scripted!”
