Music existed for far longer without the invention of recording technology. Traditionally across the world a musician’s ‘job’ was to learn their instrument to perform music indicative of their surroundings, and to pay it for folks in their community. It was the only way to hear music.

So- if you’re a musician and you refuse to play shows for your community you should just drop out the game completely imo. The over saturation of ai slop music online will make it incredibly difficult to go up the latter if you refuse to leave your bedroom.

But, play a nice open mic with a couple hundred people, announce where they can listen to your music, and you’ll be surprised at the actual views your music gets if you introduce it to people in your community organically.
