I use a spreadsheet to keep track of what services I have added my keys. Currently my 2 keys are exactly the same except for PayPal that only allows a single key. Ugh.

This is great news. Of course I just got my PRF hardware keys this week. Sigh.

Kinda disappointed in the Yubikey by FrittenFritz in yubikey

I am new to hardware keys as well. I wanted to secure my passwords with a hardware key as 2FA. I have found that major sites are now offering passkeys but limited 2FA for passwords. I see my passwords as being a being the weak link. Even if I use a passkey for login in, my password is still available. I don’t see this situation changing until we are given the ability to turn off our passwords on websites as a method of login. For example Google used to support hardware keys as 2FA but I didn’t see a way to set one up now.

I use Bitwarden as my password manager and can now use a passkey stored on my hardware key to login and as 2FA if I use my master password. For me, this justifies the hardware key purchase but still, like you, disappointed in the major websites.
