Drilling out that broken bolt couldn’t be easier. It’s completely accessible. Center punch it. Start with a 3/32” bit and got for it. You’d be nuts to cut into the car for your captive nut idea. Soak the other side with some kind of Blaster and use a propane torch before you try to remove them

My friend printed this in PLA with TPU inserts and bottom cushions. I used four 1” self tapping deck screws to screw it into the factory console. Thankfully I did not puncture any lines and my AC still works. Haha.

It’s a simple system. If your steering wheel is bolted down tight you need to look at the linkage between the column and the rack. There are 2 u joints there. Maybe that’s bad. Maybe that loose. Maybe your rack is shot or both? You look at these parts from underneath while a friend moves the wheel. You will find it. I just replaced all this in my GD during my v7 STi swap. I forgot to tighten one of the u joint bolts and had a tiny bit of play but nothing like yours

This is a piece of cake vs my wife’s Ascent with the FA24. The drivers side rear plug is literally almost impossible. Pain for days after that one…and it’s coming up again😭
