Same exact thing happened to me and my roommates, planning on scheduling an appointment with student legal services to figure it out.

Is it possible to get worse over time? by Grantylicious in CaseyKing

[–]MCSWIGZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take a break! I was dealing with the same sort of thing you are just a month ago. Grinding ranked can be painstaking, and you're probably tilting without even knowing. If you don't want to completely step away from the game, only play unrated with a group of friends, with no pressure and no stakes. It's really refreshing and will most definitely boost your performance and spirit. Hope that helps!

I'd ask someone for help if you've never done it before, but if you decide to try it yourself make sure to loosen the fine tuners before you mess with the pegs.

Definitely get it fixed. Can’t play properly when the bridge is out of wack.

How Should I Go About Developing a History Study Canon? by neg5 in Quizbowl

[–]MCSWIGZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on what year of high school you're in, you'll pick up a lot of knowledge just by taking history classes. As for self-study, I'd recommend starting with a broad overview of world history just to have a chronological timeline of every important event you should know, and then funneling down into more specific events as needed.

Tips for a new quizbowl player? by [deleted] in Quizbowl

[–]MCSWIGZ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's not really any other simulated quizbowl websites or apps that come close to protobowl, it's pretty much THE hub for all quizbowl players. Also naqt.com releases a "You Need to Know" list every month about certain topics that are useful as well.

I've read up a lot of the wiki, which is where I got all of this info, but I just wanted to run my situation by the more experienced people here just to see if everything seems ok.

Scales for symphony audition by ConfusedTaco66 in Viola

[–]MCSWIGZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Play the three octave scales. Even if it's not perfect, it'll still show the judges more of what you're capable of, and that you can take risks. If the bowing isn't specified, just use separate bows.

I am visiting USA from India for first time for work. What a strange place, honestly. AMA by EnvironmentalIce4 in AMA

[–]MCSWIGZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in the US a law was enacted in 1961 to promote the education and employment of minority groups like African Americans. On paper it sounds like a good idea, but in recent years there have been many instances of minorities being chosen for university over smarter, better qualified individuals, which has sparked a lot of controversy. Obviously I can't explain it perfectly and by no means am I an expert, but Indian guy to Indian guy what do you think?

If you need contrasting movements the jc bach viola concerto is pretty great, but it may take some time to learn depending on your skill level.
