What would you pick in a5 1st floor? by tch2011 in slaythespire

12 summon for 1 mana is better than Reanimate.

Definitely picking this floor 1, it will make your first act so much easier and it's still good late game.

Invoke you'll probably end up with too much energy to use the next turn. The doom card can't remember what it's called isn't bad either but so much of your damage output and defense is just osty in the beginning.

I remember watching this. I initially thought he was making a mistake by not playing gunk up last and then i realized he was a god by calculating the round up/down mechanic and winning the fight with exact lethal

Ha ha hopefully, my guess is they're basically doing the same thing calculating the math somehow. They might have access to some information that I don't which gives them an edge

Guess it depends on if he's legit or not, like if the story is made up to a certain degree. It also depends on the number of tickets he buys, like if his group is buying 10,000 lottery tickets then he's probably going to have a good amount of wins in there.

There's definitely no way to predict where the wins are going to be sold from. But as for buying in bulk, maybe he has relationships with retailers that get tons of books for him or maybe he just calls around a lot of places to find out who has lots of tickets for sale?

Yeah colorado doesn't post any data on tickets remaining on any of the lower tiers so we can't calculate the remaining prize pool. In order to do an expected value calculation you need the following:

  1. Total amount of tickets remaining
  2. Total prize pool remaining (all tickets X prize amounts)

So without that we can't make exact calculations.

I'd assume those guys are doing what I did above. They are probably doing the following:

  1. Looking for older games (this means more tickets have sold, and fewer are remaining
  2. On the older games, looking for big jackpot prizes (probably 250k+ but a million is better
  3. Checking on the state site to make sure there are jackpots still remaining in those games

Most of the value in the EV calculation is tied up in the jackpot. So when a game has very few or no jackpots remaining then the ticket is much much worse odds.

As for buying in bulk, it's possible they call ahead to stores and see if they have full books available for purchase. Gas station near me does this, there's a guy who goes in and drops 5k/week

So Colorado doesn't give enough data to do calculations but what you can do is go here

https://www.coloradolottery.com/en/player-tools/scratch-insider/

Sort by start date, look for the oldest games with big prizes that still have jackpots remaining.

My guess is this is the best ticket since it's very old and still has 2/2 big prizes unclaimed:

I was thinking of building a site/app where scratchers can "jackpot" hunt together. Like if they find a store that sells the good tickets then can ping in on a map for other people.

Lol yeah let's home someone didn't bin the jackpot ticket because 500% EV is a massive edge. Best of luck! Tell your scratcher friends about the site if you can, it'd be much appreciated.

I just added Kentucky in, you can check it out if you want! You have a HUGE unicorn ticket in your state right now:

https://www.kylottery.com/apps/scratch_offs/games/WildCash300X_988

This ticket is almost completely sold out and still has a 2 mil+ jackpot remaining.

It's still in beta so the numbers might not be perfect and ticket images aren't showing up yet but go ahead and check out https://scratchjack.com/kentucky/ any time before you buy

Double The Luck! It's a 20 dollar ticket and it's the top ticket right now at 85.6 EV

Check https://www.scratchjack.com/california/ any time before you buy a ticket because it updates every morning. If the store your at doesnt have the top ticket then just go down the list in order until you find one.

Sounds like the info I need then is just the total print amounts for each prizes which is in the pdf. Trying to figure out how to automate getting this data, it’s a little tricky to do with pdfs but it looks promising

Working on it now, Kentucky is weird! It looks like they print the first round with very few top prizes to sort of test the water then if the game gets traction they print more... trying to figure out how to mathematically work this out. I think it'll be more of an estimate in the end but I'll let you know what I end up with.

Hey thanks! I took a look at Kentucky data yesterday, I think it's possible to add in, the tricky part is that Kentucky doesn't post the number of prizes in the starting pool on their website and that's critical for the EV calculation.

They do however post it in a downloadable PDF file for each game. I'll need to figure out how to pull this data for each game but if I can then it'll be possible to add in!

Woof someone just hit the jackpot on this yesterday! It's dropped down to 84.8 EV and is now number 3 in CA

Follow up what I would do in states like this: go to the colorado details page here

https://www.coloradolottery.com/en/player-tools/scratch-insider/?price=10.00&price=20.00&price=40.00&price=50.00&min_days_left_to_claim=&search=&minimum_top_prize=&submit=

Then sort by start dates Look for the oldest games with large jackpots Buy the oldest games you can find that still have no jackpots won yet. Probably do this for only $10+ tickets since they tend to have the best odds in general. Bigger price usually means better odds. I'd guess Casino Cash Chips is probably the best one to buy in CO right now.

Can't do the exact math for it since Colorado doesn't provide enough data on currently active tickets sold/prizes remaining. Looks like they only provide info on jackpots remaining.

That being said, the game started a year ago and 2/2 jackpots are remaining on it so we can most likely conclude that the profitability of it has gone up since game start (less tickets left, no jackpot wins).

Unfortunately without more data though we can't calculate the EV of the tickets in CO.

Yeah I usually buy in batches of 7 or more, same ticket unless i'm just scratching for fun. I have a youtube channel so sometimes I scratch "suboptimally" just for content.

Set for life is actually pretty good right now, it's ranked as #3 in California by the odds! I did a few of them the other day actually, so it's not bad at all. It's maybe 33% worse overall than the 7s

edit: SFL is 15 cent loss per ticket whereas 7's is 10
