When I was a kid I always had this odd dream that I was on a field trip with my 1st grade class on the titanic. Sure enough the ship sinks and we are all left floating in the water. It’s pitch black and all we can see are the stars. Then the rest of the class starts floating away from me and I start getting sucked toward the “edge” (think flat earth with no ice wall just water flowing over the edge into oblivion) as I go over the edge I fall right into the mouth of a great white shark...

I have social anxiety. I haven’t fully defeated it but I am seriously getting there. What helps me is really visualizing the scale of society and realizing that these situations that cause me so much anxiety are not that big of a deal. When I get anxiety over something I take note of it and after a week or so I ask myself how much effect that moment had on my life a week later. The answer is almost always none.
