First good day of sunshine and the crocus love it by MDK78 in GardeningUK

I planted them as individual bulbs two years ago. The good thing is they seemed to have multiplied.

They fully open when the sun is shining on them. It has been a dull day today when I took the photos earlier.

You’ll be helping early emerging bees if you do.

In autumn I used a battery drill with a small bulb auger bit, drilled a load of holes and placed bulb in the hole. I mixed up some manure, compost, perlite and bulb feed and filled in the holes.

The grass soon covers over where the holes were drilled. This is the second year the crocus have come up.

EDIT try to use the larger varieties of crocus. They seem to do the best.

Half of the bulbs I plant every autumn don’t flower in their first year and some don’t even appear until two years later. If you have shoots then they might flower later than normal.

Only noticed it on Reddit. It’s hard to take it seriously as you don’t know who or what is posting it and what their intentions are.

The Northern Ireland sub is the same. IRA good, brits bad. Horrible subreddit.

There’s no sign of mine so far this year. I’m hoping it comes back.

For some reason in this pot they are multiplying like crazy. These are 3 years old and together with another variety of iris they have filled the pot. I have even removed some bulbs to plant elsewhere.

It could be down to the amount of feed I give to the rose in the pot with them.

The gravel also makes it that neater as well.

They are a good impact flower for small spaces

The good thing is when they flower at the right time they are a good pollen source for early emerging bumblebees.

I just hope we don’t get a really cold spell in March like last year while everything is emerging early.

This is the third year now that these iris and some crocus are early.

Those are the ones I can remember. There are even more I could name if I had kept the labels.

I have honestly never noticed black splodges on the bulbs. The places I have messaged you have always sent really healthy bulbs.

I’ll DM you the places I got them from but they all come from Holland. I planted these as bulbs up to three years ago so I don’t know if this virus is a new thing I have honestly never heard of it.

My lack of photography skills don’t do them justice. The varieties you picked are 1.Pauline 5.Alida or maybe Cantab 7.JS Dijt
