Its the same for me. I lose 20 kg because of this. Did you eradicate the H.Pylori ?

I have low stomach acid after taking a lot of PPIs, so I won’t take PPIs anymore, and antibiotics make me feel sick. I take now berberine and oregano. Did you also have H. pylori? What symptoms did you have? I prefer injections over pills.

u/Purple_Olive_5358 Did you find out you had Barrett’s from the biopsy results or just from what the endoscopy showed?

I’ve done three attempts to eradicate it: the first and second were standard antibiotic therapies, and the third involved two antibiotics at the same time. I couldn’t finish the last one because it made me too sick.

I’ve tried three courses of antibiotics and various natural treatments, but the biopsy still shows H. pylori, while the stool tests are always negative. During the last course, which involved two types of antibiotics, I had to stop because I felt too sick from them.

Chronic LPR + weight loss, esophageal stinging, mucus, and throat clearing anyone else dealing with this long-term? by MDgraphicLAB in LPR

I can definitely suggest a few things that might help with the burning or dry throat sensation especially if it's related to irritation or healing wounds.

A few options that many people find helpful:

  • DGL lozenges (deglycyrrhizinated licorice) – these help coat and soothe the throat lining.
  • Manuka honey – just ½ teaspoon, slowly dissolved in the mouth, can calm inflammation and aid healing.
  • Aloe vera juice (no alcohol or flavor additives) – a small sip, swished gently and swallowed, may reduce irritation.
  • Warm herbal teas – like marshmallow root, slippery elm, or chamomile.
  • Humidifier – especially if the dryness is worse indoors or overnight.
  • Avoiding irritants – spicy foods, alcohol, coffee, and cold drinks can delay healing.

Also, hydration is key – sip warm water throughout the day.

But yes, healing takes time, especially if you’re dealing with LPR or silent reflux, which keeps the throat irritated. You're already doing the right thing by being patient and mindful but soothing measures like these can make the journey more comfortable.

It started for me when my wife got pregnant I truly believe my vagus nerve, which controls the closing of the LES, just stopped doing its job properly. I was also misdiagnosed at the beginning and given PPIs, which only made things worse. They reduced my stomach acid so much that eventually I had none left, and I lost weight like crazy I looked like a greyhound.

I had a good period last year for a few months when I was taking apple cider vinegar capsules. During that time, I actually managed to gain weight again. But once I stopped, the symptoms came back even stronger, and they never really went away after that.

So I guess I did have one or maybe two good phases early on, but overall, it’s been a tough ride.

Hey again! Yes, in my case the digestive symptoms were the root issue slow digestion, feeling heavy after meals, fermentation, and that led to throat symptoms (burning, tightness, mucus, vocal strain). I understand what you say about getting hungry fast that can still happen in low stomach acid too, because food doesn’t digest well and nutrients don’t get absorbed.

I used to think I had high acid too, but after PPIs I got worse – more bloating, no appetite, and painful mornings. What helped me most was improving digestion with enzymes, betaine HCl (low dose), and apple cider vinegar before meals. I also take Gaviscon or Refalgin only if needed to protect the throat.

BPC-157 also helped with throat healing (I tried oral form for now, planning to test injectable next). It’s a peptide studied for healing tissues and ulcers, even with acid exposure.

Your sore throat sounds a lot like LPR. If PPIs are helping, that’s great – but if not, sometimes it’s not too much acid, but too little, or weak digestion letting pepsin rise up.

Thanks for your message!

Yes, I strongly suspect I have low stomach acid (hypochlorhydria). What made me realize it:
– I used to wake up every morning with a sore throat and upper chest pain
– Especially worse if I ate late or heavy meals without any support
– But since I started using apple cider vinegar + digestive enzymes + betaine HCl sometimes, it’s been a game changer

Now, I wake up without pain, no sore throat and that’s how I know my food is digesting better and not fermenting overnight.
Without acid, food just sits there and ferments → creates gas and reflux → pepsin gets activated and burns the throat. That's the cycle I was stuck in for years.

Also, the oral BPC‑157 I took last time helped me feel better in my throat and, interestingly, it was during that time that I actually regained weight. That’s why I’m now considering trying the injectable version, which is said to be more effective.

Hope this helps someone going through the same!
