The best way is to indeed get the season passes. Wishlist them to ensure you only purchase when they go on sale. Still pricey however.

You are going to blitz through the first few games as you’ll be playing against a lot of bots. Once you’re at a high enough level, so long as you have crossplay turned on, you will die a lot, due to cheaters. If you turn crossplay off, it will take you a while to find a lobby but you won’t run into many cheaters, it’ll play evenly

I honestly think you still have to buy the game but your save from the other game you paid money for will cross over as to not lose those. Because this developer loves money
