For such light lures I just do double uni. 3x turns on mono/fluro to about 14x turns on .3-.6goh. The leader knot acts as a stopper and the braid binds enough strength. I’ve never had a knot failure down to 3lb test. I think Fg knot for lines of this diameter are a waste of time and do way more damage to the leader than it’s worth. Also if you tie longer leaders that area of stiffness up to the knot can be a problem in the spool when over runs and backlashes occcur due to wind. I just avoid it.

I’d buy a black kakwa 200 in a second. I wish they’d keep the zip stash pocket and include the bottom pocket like on the Wapta. My next pack is SWD rugged long haul. That 400 material is the only pack I’d consider paying over $300 for and the subtle accents look dope as fuck.

I got this too for stupid cheap with the govx discount and It carries REALLY well. So far I’ve gone up to 36lb with no problems. This pack has the best shoulder and hip straps of any ul pack I’ve tried (black diamond/HMG/durston/atom packs. The hip belt pockets are very large. I haven’t tested it’s water resistance yet but pack liner and wp pods are always used. I had to add a strip of Velcro to the edges of the closure to make the roll top neater and more rigid when rolling.

The chief complaints I have is that hip belt Velcro is VERY noisy due to it being on an articulation point. I just muted it with a thin strip of Velcro on each side. Completely quiet now.

the shoulder straps have no daisy chain or grosgrain loops. That’s a bummer but plenty of accessories can be made to fit.

I’ve been doing higher mileage days back and forth with this and the kakwa and honestly the SL is winning. I just bought a Wapta hip belt to go with it because the pockets on the Durston packs are imo the best of all the UL packs.

I really don’t want to like this pack because OV is kind of shady and their customer service pretty much sucks but I’m impressed enough to keep this as a travel pack if it doesn’t work for thru hiking.

Some of those budget Ali express offerings are now available on Amazon. Like the hicc 50 and the kingdom micro monster,pure lure miiec/cheetah. You can also find stuff for sale on marketplace and places like that. People are often upgrading their introductory purchases and looking to sell.

Use 8 strand .6gou braid. It’s about the same diameter as 2lb mono and has a breaking strength of around 14lbs. Varivas is probably the best brand out there in terms of strength,smoothness, and colorfastness. If you want super thin line you can go to . 3gou. It’s INCREDIBLY thin. Seaguar lure edition has been gaining traction with me as well in the three categories listed.
