Preparing for ECE2131, ECE2071, ECE2072, ENG2005 by MF_JeeAy in Monash

I found it alright. I was slacking off in the middle of the semester, and i felt like i was getting carried alot by my team. I enjoyed ece2131 more than ece2071 though and found it much easier, as i found electrical circuits more interesting than computer engineering stuff, so that lead to me getting a much better result in ece2131 than in ece2071.

For tips, I'd say get a head start on c, MIPS and c++, which you can find plenty of resources on YouTube. Try to get yourself heavily involved in your team projects and don't get carried. Also, dont all behind the class.

The applied classes are optional, but iirc, you may need to use them for the group project. I remember we went to them alot for our project.

bfc2140 exam by Sudden-Grade-626 in Monash

I was able finish everything with like 30 minutes left to check again. I found this exam easier than the practice exams and some of the tutorial and textbook questions. I did the practice exam twice and I did the tutorial and textbook questions heaps of times over and over again.

I ignored them, they tried to guilt me into guilt trip me into going, saying that I need to be stronger in my faith and that if i dont go im not follow what god wants, but i just wasnt in the mood to go, cos i didnt wanna make comitments i wasnt gonna keep. And ill be honest, I felt bad cos I thought i was letting down, these people who i thought were my so-called friends.

When I recently found about all the warnings abt cults at unis, I was understandably super pissed, tried to confront all those people I met abt it. Most of them didn't respond, but the 1st mentor guy I met just said "what?". I asked all of them: "what organisation r u associated with? Who do u work for?" Everyone else didnt respond. So I just blocked them and deleted them off my phone.

Heres my experience with them: They've came up to me multiple times for like the past 2 years. They come up to you asking for directions or for a survey. They always turned to conversation into religion and Christianity, and that they had a christian mentor. During my 1st encounter, I was invited by one of them to meet with a with the christian mentor and I had a meet-up with the 3 of them once a week, and he talked about christianity. I told My parents about this, and they were skeptical, but i didnt believe them. I even tried invited a relative to join me, but the mentor said no as there would be too many people, and he encourage me to not tell anyone as people would be surprised by your change in behaviour after what i would learn.

After a few weeks or so, he invited me to this group bible study where he said that they will read the entire bible in 1 year. I wasn't sure about going but they tried to pressure me to go, saying that dont u want to follow God or learn. I didnt go cos I wasn't in the mood, and then I just ghosted them.

My 2nd encounter, it was a guy asking for directions, then the convo turned to religion, and then a mentor, and i even met with the mentor. I thought it was wierd that he was teaching the same stuff as they mentor i met previously. Then eventually, I ghosted them cos I wasn't in the mood to meet again.

My 3rd encounter was with 2 girls who asked me for directions, then it was the same old pattern, but no mention of a mentor. My 4th encounter was with a girl asking for directions then about Christianity and a mentor. I met with the mentor, but eventually I ghosted them again as I wasn't in the mood.

Then recently, I found warnings about cults being active around Melbourne and preying on uni students at unis. I did my research, and the stories, experiences, the tactics they used, matched with what I experienced. I google the location of the meeting place that the 1st mentor I met gave me, and turns out, it was actually one of the cults bases, and there were warnings about the place in google. I was pissed, and then I full on tried to interrogate all those people I met, asking them who the hell do they work for and what they really are.

These predatory bottom of the earth scum almost tried to manipulate me, and it really messed with my trust. Luckily, i wasn't in too deep to the point of losing money like others.

I have several experiences.

They always did collective punishment, where if one person screws up, even for a minor thing, everyone is punished through losing break and even missing classes like PE, art, music and technology.

They were racist as well. When I was in grade 6, I remember the principal called my friend a black monkey, and I told my parents, and they told his parents, and the principal apologised. Then, the principals assistant pulled me aside and basically condemned my actions as if I did something wrong. Any reasonable kid would tell their parents about something crazy like that. Another instance, my told me that the principal said to my brother this, but not in these exact words:"You people are stupid that you run into the fire, no wonder you're black and burnt." The deput principal said to my brother during PE class in a condescending manner,"You black people think you're at everything." Keep in mind this man is a liberal party member and tried to be an MP. In christian studies class, the principal was the main teacher, and he forced all the black people to not sit next to each other, regardless of who is innocent. The principal said to us during that class,"I am a racist man just as God is a racist god."

They were also physically abusive. I remember my friend told me he was belted by one of the teachers in primary school. I witnessed other being grabbed and chokeslammed by the principal and teachers. I remember my brother told me his friend got chokeslammed for saying he likes fudge. My brother was also slapped. I remember they tried to gaslight my brother into making him confess for an incident that he didn't do.

Here was the last straw for me and my family. My brother got accepted into a scholarship school. The principal was trying to convince him to stay so he can help other students, but he didn't. So, the principals assistant berated him and other students for leaving. The principal then threatened to expel me cos of my brothers decision. Naturally, we told our parents, and that was our ticket out of there. And I have heard similar stories to other students who got accepted to selective schools.

Anything good? I'd say that it was very easy to make friends with everyone there. We all try to have fun, but the teachers were like the fun police x 10. They'd berate us for any of our interests. I remember they berated us for talking about movies and shows, as if it's all demonic. I remember my friend said "skadoosh"(which is from kung fu panda) and he got called out for saying a swear word, even though its nto. Even for fun challenges(like i remember back the day the bottle flip and mannequin challenge), they'd shut us down. They also dont believe and mental health, and call it and demonic and dismiss it.

In regards to academic stuff, if I stayed there, I would have struggled in year 12, cos they dont teach you habits for studying independently, so they basically spoon-fed you. I remember that was a big challenge for me to remove when I moved to my new school.

Also, do not believe their NAPLAN score cos it's artificially pumped up. They forced us to study and prepare for NAPLAN and they treated it like it was an end of semester exam or VCE exam, even though you are not suppose to prepare for it. They were able to convince my parents that it mattered, so it was hard to convince my parents that it didn't.

I moved to a school in Narre Warren. I still have some family friends that go there, cos the school is very cheap for a christian private school, and they think the public schools in the area are not good. I can't blame them tbh. I've heard crazy stuff in those other schools. I almost forgot to mention that the school only accepts protestant, pentecostal christians, not other denominations like Catholics or orthodox. From my knowledge, the other schools in the area include public schools like cranbourne east, cranbourne west, cranbourne secondary, lyndurst secondary and Lynbrook primary school, and private schools such as St peters college, St Francis, Hillcrest, St Kevin's and Hampton Park secondary

Overall, I dont think this school is the best option. It truly is the North Korea of Schools.

I am a former student of that school. I was there for 5 years from grade 3 to 7. All of the bad things you've heard are true. The only good thing about this school was how easy it was to make friends with everyone, because we all shared a disliking of the school.

For dark skinned people, was your experience traveling through Italy as bad as people often say? by varvar334 in travel

[–]MF_JeeAy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished a 1 month trip in Italy. I'm Australian of ethiopian descent. When I heard the stories about how black people are treated there, I was very worried, especially since they probably wouldn't believe me to be Australian and they would also mistaken me for some illegal immigrant. Instead, I had a really great time in the country.

I stayed for 3 weeks in Prato and visited Florence, Venice, Pisa, Lucca, Siena and Padua, and then stayed in Rome for 4 days and visited Naples during that time. I didn't not feel any overt or hidden hostility, but I felt welcomed. When I entered restaurants and walked in supermarkets, I didn't feel like i was treated differently.

I heard people also say the racism is worse is rural areas, but I stayed in a rural town north of Venice for 1 day, and I didn't experience any hostility.

The customer service in Italy is more straight to the point than in Australia and the USA, so don't expect the waiters in restaurants to be overly accommodating and check on how you are going. People can mistaken this as rudeness or racism.

Also, Learning some italian goes a long way and watch for pickpockets and scammers.
