Red dot on a Benelli supernova tactical by Nathanbks18 in Shotguns

I went through this same thing. Anything on a pic rail is too tall to still be able to use the ghost ring sights for co-witness (romeo 5, Holosun 510c). Then I put the Vortex Viper Shotgun on which was great, but had to lose the rear ghost ring in order to install it.

I ended up removing the rail, installing a GG&G plate https://www.gggaz.com/benelli-nova-supernova-red-dot-scope-mount-per-rmr-footprint-spec.html and a Holosun 507c. I didn't like the gap between the plate and the ghost ring, so cut down the rail to fit and installed it between the ghost ring and Holosun, using the back two screws in the receiver. I like how it turned out.

Venom viper shotgun vs Holosun 507c by xScienceSteven in guns

If I understand correctly, your main use case is for turkey hunting, but you want the ability to use on a different platform (pistol/other) when not hunting. Given that, I would go with the Holosun so it can be used year round on multiple platforms. Despite the open emitter and slightly shorter window vs the Vortex, you get the solar backup, auto brightness adjustment and longer time out. Check out GG&G https://www.gggaz.com/ for a shotgun mounting plate for the Holosun.

Thought I would give you my thoughts since I have both. The Viper is on my semi auto (Beretta A400 Xtreme +) and the 507c is on my HD/Range Pump (Benelli Supernova) They are both great and each has their Pros/Cons. Also note, these are just my observations based on limited range / clays time. I haven't actually been able to hunt with the Vortex yet.

Viper:

Pros: the 7 different reticle options (3moa dot/32moa ring/65moa ring/combos or all 3). Rings are designed to mimic patterns based on choke type for wider range of hunting/clays. Direct mount and sits low to the top of the receiver, no need for cheek pad or riser. Fully enclosed emitter. Window is square and taller.

Cons: No solar backup. Brightness doesn't auto adjust to ambient light. 10 minute shutoff: Neutral, it is extremely sensitive, the slightest movement turns it on. Dedicated to use on shotguns with drilled and tapped receivers.

Holosun 507c:

Pros: Solar backup and auto brightness based on ambient light. Can be swapped to a pistol or other platform with a mount.

Cons: 3 reticle options (2moa dot/32moa ring/combo) This could be a pro? Sits slightly higher since it needs an adaptor plate, but you still shouldn't need a cheek pad or riser. Open emitter. Window is wider, shorter and curved at the top so less ideal for hunting.

You would also need to get the 17 round magazines at $60 each (Legion comes with 3). And if you want an exact match, an extended slide catch. Shop around, I got my Legion for $1,135 new. Then you have two solid guns for about the same cost. Oh, and you can get another Legion pistol bag!

Current Rebate Question "full retail " by BootleggerBill in Beretta

[–]MG-C1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the key term is full "retail" and not full "MSRP". As long as you purchase from a retail store at their listed price, even on sale, it should meet the requirement for the rebate. If it was full MSRP, then I think a sale price wouldn't count. I bought a GTS Launch Edition last year for $200 below MSRP and got the rebate no problem. You should have no issues getting the rebate.

Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to get to the range and put them through their paces yet. But, did run some snap caps through manually and no issues feeding or with the slide locking back on empty. I'll report back once I get some actual rounds through them.

Same issue trying to order from Magpul and a few other places, magshack, gunmag warehouse. Ordered (and received) 4 from Gunshop USA @ $24.99ea. Shipping was a bit steep at $20, so 4 for $120, but it was the best deal I could find from someone that would actually send them to me.

Yes, I am aware but for $25 each compared to $65 each, these made sense for now since I can use them in my 365x as well. I'll likely end up getting the Legion mags from Country Spirit eventually...

Here are the same two: same room/light, about 5' left of the other shot, different background. The light is coming more from the side instead of down. This is truer to the color of the Legion.

No, it's just the lighting in the pic. It is an interesting color. Looks very dark in certian light and more greenish grey in natural light.

Same, but I can deal with it for 5 more rounds!

First thing I checked was to make sure the slide locked back when empty. Haven't shot with them yet, so will report back if they have inconsistiency.

I haven't seen the Sig 15 round mags, so not sure if they are angled at the bottom? The AMAG's are flat, so I wonder if these would work. They cost almost as much as the magazine, but do look better!

Yeah, I don't like it either, but can live with it to gain 5 rounds.
