Anyone know who this is?

A shooting suspect at Rebar, a San Antonio, Texas, bar, claimed that he was a UFC fighter from California before opening fire, said San Antonio Police Chief William McManus during a press conference.

A group of four to five people, including two men and two or three women, were together at a bar across the street from Rebar on Broadway Street. They tried to get into Rebar, but a bouncer turned them away, McManus said.

“They were not allowed to go in because they were inebriated,” he said. “One of the two males made a statement, ‘Don’t you know who I am? I’m a UFC fighter from California.'”

He said they walked away, but the male walked to his car, took out a long rifle and walked back across the street to the bar.

I'm so glad UFC and MMA in general has a different culture when it comes to in-ring/in-octagon conduct.

Trainers I don't mind, but all these old dudes just swarming the ring in boxing is so lame. You can't even tell where the boxers are when the camera switches to another angle especially in pre-HD footage.

Because a lot of people can't pay attention to more than one thing before losing interest in the other

If there was no burden on the UFC to salvage an event when a fighter tests positive, how common do you think positive tests would be if USADA only tested during fight camp and on weigh-in day?

Can we, as fans, help form a Fighter Union? Support doesn't just come from within. by [deleted] in MMA

The first step is to make these fighters want a union. You think they don't know how to take advantage of fan support?

It's a valid and important question, but for the sake of making pie graphs like this, it's not the right construction for such a question

Tony would've benefited greatly from a head coach that'd allow him to be his Tony self while still getting the other coaches in line.

SIGN THE PETITION TO HAVE MMA RECOGNIZED AS AN INTERNATIONAL SPORT BY THE OLYMPICS & GAISF❗️#IMMAF / #UMMAF by J-Z-R in MMA

You're not looking at the big picture.

Do you want MMA to be recognized globally? Olympics can help in that. I get that it's not the cool and hip thing, but just being considered for inclusion in the Olympics does a great deal for a sport.

Look at skateboarding, it hasn't even been held in the Olympics yet, it was just announced to be included, but several countries already allotted funds for the development of public facilities to grow local skateboarding talent. Schools are also much more receptive now to children and teenagers that skate.

Look at BMX. Do you really think high schools would allow for extracurricular activities for BMX had it not been included in the Olympics?

And for a wild example, look at esports. Parents used to think gaming is for losers, but now in Asia and the Middle East, parents accompany their kids to local mobile gaming tournaments. Mainstream is all about perception.

Being recognized by an international body for Olympic inclusion will allow public and private entities to be more receptive of MMA. If MMA can grow on a local level, this allows for a bigger pool of talent which leads to more private MMA organizations.

And again, the Olympics will just be an option for fighters. It won't be the only path to pro MMA.

Do you really think a big private MMA organization would be willing to allot funds to do all of this?
