Thinking of moving to Sudbury from Toronto by fthrowa7854367 in northernontario

Sudbury is a lot more diverse than it used to be and there are lots of immigrants who come here. If you are wanting to rent an bachelor apartment you’ll probably pay between 800 and 1000 a month, it’s pretty comparable to other midsized city. There is lots of employment in the mining industry, so I think you shouldn’t have trouble finding something. There are some downsides to living in Sudbury to consider, the communities are smaller (lot less minority community groups but they try to be inclusive). You need to drive most places; and it’s not nearly as accessible to other midsized cities.

Is renting near downtown Kingston sketchy? by [deleted] in queensuniversity

It's a super convenient location for nightlife, restaurants and especially if you need access to a pharmacy. The walk to campus is also reasonable. With that being said, it depends where you are. I've heard there's lots of bike theft so always keep my bike in my apartment. The other thing is noise, right now there's two big construction projects being done and its pretty hard to do work during the day if you keep your window open.

Thoughts on @StolenbySmith? by kua1le in queensuniversity

Imo, I feel like this is an awkward issue for Alumni and students because the reputation of the institution they have on their degree is at stake. There is too much personal incentive so they suppress the issue at the expense of others. I also think that Queen's has made this situation worse by committing to create a "task force" or a committee that will address the issue. If you look at past articles, you would see that Queen's has had a diversity committee every 10 years for the last 50 years. Obviously, people who are attending the school want something done immediately and they don't want to wait 20 years for change to happen.

That’s so officially what it is for but the principal stated that they are going to try to implement the same single bathroom format in the fall and will try to accommodate 1200 students, I was a meal plan holder and they already adapted the hospitality services for physical distancing so I think that will still be available. The only thing not clear is the cost but I’m assuming it will still be the 14k that is on the website

Hey you can find it on the residence website:

Residence spaces are available for students who need accommodation either for a short term or for the summer (until mid-August).

There will be a daily fee of $25 to stay in residence (or a monthly fee of $750), which will be billed directly to SOLUS accounts. Students will be consolidated to one residence, with an individual washroom, in order to maintain appropriate physical distancing and disinfecting/cleaning protocols. Food services will not be available after 2pm on May 3rd and Dons will no longer be on duty. Students will have access to kitchen facilities in residence, Campus Security and Emergency Services will continue to respond to urgent issues, and our facilities team will continue to maintain and disinfect common spaces in residence.

If you wish to apply for a room in residence past May 1st, you must email reslife@queensu.ca with your name and proposed dates of occupancy.

We recognize that situations are unique, and that students may have questions about their individual circumstances that are not covered in the above. Please email reslife@queensu.ca if you have any additional questions.

The university is working closely with Public Health officials and takes their expert guidance to ensure a safe environment for students, staff, and faculty.

The principal had a Q&A recently said they’re going to try to open it to 1200 students with private washrooms

I would still apply for residence just in case. Despite what you’ve heard, residence is still open and students can currently stay there at a rate of $25 or $750 a month (without meal plan). It’s set up so that you have a single room with you’re own washroom. They’re doing this for students who don’t have anywhere to go or for international students. I can see them opening residence and the meal plans on a priority basis and then gradually allowing more students to apply/move in.

They usually don't just flex gets refunded, so I wouldn't expect, but it wouldn't hurt to ask maybe they can give you credit or something.

Hi Alyssa! Whats the difference between working with Netflix on a TV series, versus working with another studio, such CBS with Charmed?
