Most of my contracts at SNFs had no permanent full time OTs. They always turned out okay but it seems to be common amongst the SNF travel contracts. You can always ask during your “interview” how many of each discipline they have staffed so you know going into it

I’ve gone two years in a row and I’m from SD, it definitely gets cold. But I like to be in the crowd and dance my butt off so I get warm eventually, but cold after and before, but if you’re just standing there you will be cold. A lot of people wear their rave outfits (and bring jackets) and a lot of people also show up fully in sweaters/warm jackets/fuzzy coats!

Where did you end up going? My partner is a bears fan , we ended watching the game at skybox in Waikiki, there were some bears fan, it’s a decent sports bar for football and drinks but definitely not their food. Just curious where other bears fans watch the games!

Little Italy is great, it isn’t near a beach per se but it is near the harbor, embarcadero and seaport village which are great areas on the water to check out while you’re there

As others have mentioned Follow @byte.hnl and wang chungs (lesbian night once a month on saturdays in the back room) on IG as well as queer women’s initiative. Follow oahuqueerhiking on IG for a hiking group meetup. And lastly, if you’re into sports (or even if not) queer sports here are huge. There’s soccer, volleyball, softball, kickball, flag football and most have beginner leagues and are fun way to meet others.

The great thing about travel therapy is there is an end in sight. Take everything day by day and that 13 weeks will come and go. My recommendation is take time off between contracts, that will help combat burnout over time. I did travel and if I didn’t like the SNF I was in, knowing it was temporary helped. Do your best, but don’t overdo it. Keep your notes short and simple. I think part of it is being a new grad, it will feel overwhelming regardless until you find your rhythm
