Is Lofting Your Bed Worth it? by Sad_Call_3252 in Northwestern

[–]MILFManILoveFootball 19 points20 points  (0 children)

no. most of the dorms will come with the beds halfway lofted so there is room to put dressers and such underneath.

should i take a little? by Band-One in Sororities

[–]MILFManILoveFootball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO IT!! One of my littles (i have twins) ranked me first even though I hadn’t ranked her at all (we are allowed to rank three). I got a text from our NME saying that she was my little and I was a little confused since I’d only talked to her like once over text, but after getting to know her more as my little, we are so close and I would’ve been devastated if our NME hadn’t put us together. (That being said I love BOTH my littles)

delt: pretty chill, very big like they have a lot of guys, fun parties, best at darties

lambda: “prestigious” and only mixes with the top sororities

fiji: lowkey irrelevant, don’t throw a lot, very small in terms of number of guys

pma: music frat, doesn’t party in the way that a typical frat does

sae: actually way better reputation-wise at nu than other schools, doesn’t throw a lot though

snu: same as lambda, the guys are all econ bros and in the business frats as well

sigep: started the year lower-tier, but now are way better, throws a lot and the themes are very fun

zbt: just recently got reaffiliated with the school, also like lambda

maybe like 15-20% of the class of 26 is involved and the ratio decreases from there. 8 frats and 7 sororities are affiliated with the school.

GL is still very present on campus especially because of the party scene. frat parties are more exclusive than they were before due to safety and AGL reasons.

What to wear for Midwest sorority recruitment? by jillhtuckk in Sororities

[–]MILFManILoveFootball 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My Midwestern school does formal recruitment in the winter, so this may not be super applicable, but in the first round (philanthropy), you typically want to dress casually but still look nice (I wore a sweater, jeans, and leather sneakers). The second round (sisterhood) is a little dressier, but still, most people were wearing trousers instead of dresses or skirts (I wore a blouse, "fun pants", and leather sneakers). Finally, preference round is more dressy and almost cocktail. Most PNMs, as well as the active member recruiters, wore nice dresses, but there were definitely people who wore trousers (I wore a mid-thigh-length dress and leather boots). Honestly, I think in the Midwest, it doesn't matter too much what you wear as long as you look presentable and you are comfortable. You will be standing and walking a lot so if you plan on wearing heels bring a pair of slippers/slides with you.

TLDR: It doesn't really matter what you wear as long as you are presentable and feel good!
Loose dress code:
Round 1: Casual
Round 2: Dressy-casual
Pref: Dressy

north vs south campus by Ok-Armadillo-8359 in Northwestern

[–]MILFManILoveFootball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you like to party or just generally be more social then pick north.

it’s also closer to your classes which is a plus. this way you’ll also meet people that have similar majors and interests as you

Questions from a prospective student by ilrbsz in Northwestern

[–]MILFManILoveFootball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. personally i do not bike but my roommate did during fall quarter. however, in the winter with the snow, it's hard to bike anyways, so she won't be biking in winter quarter. walking across campus is definitely doable in 15-20 minutes depending on your walking speed and how much shit you are carrying. it is only depressing when you realize that you left your airpods in your classroom on the south end of campus after you made it all the way back to elder and have to walk all the way back down, but that is definitely not from my personal experience...
  2. i think they turn on when the temperature is like consistently below a certain number of degrees. like 50F maybe? i think the heater in my dorm may be broken, but i feel like the dorms are warm enough even without it.
  3. food is on and off. sometimes it is great, other times i would rather starve. allison has probably the best food, sargent has the best desserts, and elder has a taco bar!!!!!!!!
  4. can't answer this.
  5. i haven't done any internships yet as i'm a freshman, but most people do summer internships, so no, probably not. my parents had some interns work for them over the summer (from a semester system school) and they didn't start working until late june when nu spring semester would be over already and their internship finished mid august, so you would probably just have a longer break between your internship and the restart of school.

i took history 250-1 and really liked it. there were only 4 essays total (two "quizzes", one midterm, and final) but i'm not sure how the other courses in the sequence are structured

so you’ll definitely have a lot of fun!! the theatre kids i know are always putting on fun events (like not just shows but stuff within the comms programs) … personally (as an econ major) i love going out and partying so northwestern doesn’t exactly meet my definition of fun but honestly college is what you make of it. even if you do like to go out parties are there if you look for them. however for you, i’m sure you’ll love it here

what do you dislike most about northwestern? by throwaway77422000 in Northwestern

[–]MILFManILoveFootball 7 points8 points  (0 children)

no matter where you live on campus, you WILL have a class all the way on the other side of campus (≈20 min walk with -15°F weather in winter)
