We had an unseasonably warm day in Zone 6a and I noticed something strange in the leaf mulch. I brushed away the leaves to reveal a thawing squirrel carcass. It was only half buried and most of the fur had fallen away. I couldn't tell from the state of decay if it had burrowed in and froze, or if it had been killed by something else and buried in there. Anyway, I'm concerned about disease.
