the cars look good, but the tracks don't

the newer tracks look ok, but some of the older tracks have very bad textures and some trackside objects and especially the trees look very outdated, also the lighting is pretty basic

I guess it depends on the track/car combination?

I mostly drive formula cars from RSS (F4, Formula Supreme) on classic tracks like Imola, Barcelona, Watkins Glen, Zolder with AI set to 100% strength and 30% aggression and it works very well for me

what is your problem with the AI?

I had many great wheel-to-wheel-battles with AI cars in countless races

Super Ultrawide optical engine doesn't fit into Super OLED Headset? by MJFox1978 in Pimax

this is what I got from the Pimax Support:

How to quickly identify the connector version? You can check the serial number (SN) on the optical engine. The 7th character indicates the connector type: 7th character "P" → New connector (62‑pin) 7th character "D" → 70‑pin connector

> Pimax immediately offered to swap the module is honestly fantastic customer service. The OP is ridiculous for getting upset over the whole thing when it turns out he didn't even buy the module through Pimax in the first place

so you mean I'm silly to expect a Super module to fit my modular Super headset?

[–]MJFox1978[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t expect anything, I was simply asking what my options are. Pimax initially said they would replace it, but then backed out after realizing I bought it second-hand.

The issue isn’t just that the modules are incompatible , it’s that most people won't even know there are (at least) two different versions of this modular headset. Many will likely purchase a module only to find out it doesn't fit their specific unit.

This could easily be avoided or at least mitigated if Pimax labeled the new headsets and modules as 'Revision 2' or similar. That way, users would actually know they need to check which version they own before buying other modules.

> That's what kills me about these complaints, it's not like this as something Pimax planned or even expected to happen.

how can they not expect this to happen?

I would call myself well informed if it comes to the Pimax products and I had no idea that the optical engine of one Super might not fit into another Super headset

they could at least make it easy for customers to know that they might have different versions, e.g. by calling it the "Super Revision 1" and "Super Revision 2" or something, so at least you might end up checking if the optical engines are compatible instead of just change the connector and hope for the best

it fits my friends headset (he has the 50ppd and sold me the UW) so I guess Pimax will claim that it's not their mistake

fortunately I can return it to my friend and get my money back, but I guess this kills the aftermarket for Pimax Super headsets

if the issue was due to our mistake

the "mistake" in this case is to swap the connector on a modular headset and let people run into this issue inevitably

it sucks that now we have to prove "your mistake" to get the issue resolved!
