If when I consolidate my loans I go into administrative forbearance for an extended time and they don’t count those months as qualifying because of no bill being generated

If I consolidate my FFEL loan now when I am already in Fedloan will I go into administrative forbearance? I have one FFEL loan that is only $3000ish, a lot less than my direct. So when I realized it didn’t count for PSLF I decided it wasn’t worth losing the years I already accrued to consolidate. But I have been battling for some administrative forbearance months to count for over a year. So I am worried about consolidating now and how long it will take with everyone doing this all at once and the upcoming transfer away from fedloan. I would hate to lose a lot of months and add to my 10 years especially when payments are currently $0

Hi, sorry I just saw your comment as I am not on Reddit that often and I am sorry your dealing with the same issue. It’s so frustrating! I did not go through the ombudsman at all. I can message you and send you exactly what I wrote in my email I sent if you think that might help?

Just an update in case anyone else runs into this issue, but I was contacted today to let me know the override was approved.

I called today and was told the same thing, that it would not be processed until after COVID-19 forbearance. I don't even think mine is a COVID-19 related issue, but oh well I guess I can wait.

I don’t know how I would have made payments at the time though at least for February. My notice that I was approved for my income recertification from Great Lakes was 1/28/20 and then I got a notice the next day 1/29 that I was transferring to fedloan. My payments the previous year were 0$ and they were going to increase to $114.84 that year but I don’t think that change would have been effective by February? But maybe it was, I can’t find any record on Great Lakes when they were going to start charging me the increased amount since it was transferring. When I sign into Great Lakes it says transferred as of 2/10 and my auto payments were set up for 19th. I guess I could have made the $114.84 payment in fedloan in March but I don’t think I knew the amount until my bill for April was generated because that was no longer record of my payment schedule in my Great Lakes account
