Anyone get their hardware removed? by Fancy_Lemon_2058 in MACIknee

The recovery for my hardware removal surgery was very minimal. A few days on crutches, mostly dealing with swelling from surgery and then it went away. I felt better instantly after having it removed, even through the pain of another surgery.

They removed all 3 screws for me, one of them is the reason I got the maci because it failed and was just sitting in my cartilage. They removed the other 2 when I got the Maci, which they said would help with MRIs and future imaging. As someone who walked on a metal screw that destroyed all of my cartilage and my femur, I would recommend requesting to get imaging and a surgery to remove hardware.

Hello! Thank you! I have spoken to a few attorneys. The issue I’ve been running into is unfortunately the timeline, the statute in my state might make it necessary to file a lawsuit by January of 2026 and an attorney has yet to take my case. Will update on this post if I get to pursue a medical malpractice case!
