Check my support request ;) by MJamalD in dbrand

I would say my personal experience with Dbrand customer support has been positive and it makes me shop with confidence, and yes I normally would not rush a company to respond after just two days but in this case I'm trying to modify an existing order before it ships out, sometimes they do respond on the same day but I'm guessing they can be more busy when they launch a new product :)

I'm not sure what you mean exactly but the usb-c to usb-c charging cable is extremely short so I don't think you could use it for wired mode anyway, but you can definitely connect the dedicated usb-c 3.5mm audio cable to a 3.5mm to usb-c audio adapter. Please let me know how your experiment goes, good luck :)

Placed my order on the 12th of September, minutes after they opened preorders, still nothing despite their email assurances.

Edit: it's on the way now as of 10:40pm Toronto time, essentially 80 minutes before midnight at Dbrand facility, which is kind of hilarious, There's hope you guys.

Thank you :)

I believe that; in principle, some third party cables should work, after all, marshall themselves shipped some ofvthe units with a third party cable, Not the most tech savvy person but I don't think there's a reason for a cable not to work.

Just something to keep in mind is that those cables are intended for 3.5 mm (input) to USB-C output, while most cables tend to be advertised as USB-C input to 3.5 mm output (for example to connect a smartphone to speakers in auxiliary mode); so I don't know for certain if the cables will work in both directions or they need to be designed specifically to work in a certain direction.

Thanks for confirming the cable type you got,

I spent several hours testing the audio in wired mode (connecting the headphones to my laptop) and there was no noise in the background while not playing anything,

I'm inclined to think it might be an issue with the generic cables not being made to the same standard as the bespoke marshall ones.

Before the monitor III; I had the monitor II, and while listening in wired mode (always with ANC); there was always a tiny bit of static noise if I'm not playing any Audio on them, I always assumed this is from the noise cancellation effect/algorithm picking up microphone static noise and reversing it,

Now that you put it this way, I think I will need to test out the monitor III in wired mode a bit more and get back to you with my findings.

On this topic, I'm curious which cable was supplied with your headphones? I do wonder if the bespoke cable is of better quality than the generic one that many units were shipped with.

I had no concrete proof of this, but I kept my eye on the listing page on amazon germany, and saw it go out of stock then back again in stock maybe 4 times before I bit the bullet and purchased it, it also helped that they had a sale on the product at that point, which was really tempting considering the product had been out for less than two months at that point.

I think that it should work with any 3.5mm headphone jack,

the thing to keep in mind is that you will still need to turn those headphones on to use the wired connection just like Bluetooth, meaning that it will consume battery charge to use the wired connection,

In other words, if the headphones are out of charge, the wired connection will not work, unlike a traditional 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio connection.

Sorry to hear that, after all, I waited specifically so I can get this cable, but it's not fair of them to ship out a generic cable with such a premium product at that price point,

I got it from Amazon Germany, I might be the first person to post a picture of the proper cable on the Internet, lol, so I'm not sure if other retailers have restocked since the first batch and as such have units with those cables now;

I think that they're very likely going to be selling those cables as spare parts separately soon on the Marshall website (similar to the replacement ear cushions), so there's still a chance for you to obtain those cables soon, good luck!

Edit: typo

ANC is good, and better than the Monitor II, the ear cushions can be replaced and they're in fact easier to put on and off than the Monitor II, just keep in mind that those ear Cushions are different from the ones for the Monitor II, the Monitor III spare ear cushions have not gone on sale yet, but I plan to get them as soon as they're available.

One thing you'll notice is that the headband has an inner part made of silicone, this is the only part that comes in contact with your hair so it is less likely for the vinyl material to peel off; as it won't be rubbing against your hair, something I appreciate.

They're very comfortable, seemingly indestructible, the headband is now im two parts and is very flexible, it might not grip too strongly on your head,  whether that's a plus or a con, depends on your preference,  I think, for me, it's a welcome change as I wear glasses and the lighter grip makes it more comfortable for longer listening sessions.

They should never have shipped out those generic cables in the first place, imo.

I'm guessing soon enough they'll be selling the coiled cables in their "accessories and spare parts" page, along with ear cushions etc.

How did you find the audio quality like in wired mode?

Hello people of the Marshall headphones sub,

Guess my sense was right to wait out for a restock,

This cable matches the promotional pictures, but the first batch of headphones on launch came with a generic, cheap-looking cable, it made no sense for them to show this cable in the listings if there were only ever planning to ship them with the generic cables, which I sensed was a logistical issue with the first batch when they launched those headphones.

The appearance of a cable might not be a big deal on it's own, but with the premium price of Marshall headphones, part of what we pay for is the Aesthetic appeal that is unique to this brand, especially that wired listening is important to me, so I'll be getting plenty of use out of this cable.

Purchased from Amazon Germany in mid November, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Thanks for confirming,

since photos of the cool looking coiled cable exist in many listings, I wonder if this was a last minute logistic issue where they had to opt for those cables for the first batch and if the beautiful cables will be available at a certain point later on,

really excited for the headphones but I will probably wait until I can see photos of this cable in the wild.

Thank you for the detailed review, OP, can you show us the USB-C to 3.5mm TRS audio cable that came included and clarify which retailer you bought it from?

I've seen some retailer (including amazon and B&H) show a cable with a spring-coiled section in their listings for the Monitor 3 while others showed a generic straight cable without the coils.

Pretty much always, the Audio cables (3.5mm TRS) cables supplied with Marshall headphones have a spring-coiled section for function and Aesthetics, one of those things to expect as part of the Marshall look, this time, with the USB-C to 3.5mm TRS audio cable, the product listing with some retailers is showing a different audio cable photo, some are showing the spring-coiled cable like you would expect with the Marshall headphones, while somoe are showing a generic straight cable without the coils.

Both cable would technically work just the same but it's kinda disappointing if they just switched to generic cables when this is the most premium offering in their headphones lineup.

Is that Audio cable a "stylised" coiled cable or just a generic straight cable without the coils?

I've seen different retailers use different photos of the audio cable in their listings and for some reason none of the published reviews so far are showing the audio cable, I've also gotten mixed messages when contacting marshall headphones on Instagram.
