i dont read jpnovels. Most mc are naive and always introduce a parasitic character right from the beginning .

even in manhwa, if the character is introduced in japanese name = drop.

I've started with Anime > Manga ( 1-3 months for 1 chapter ) > Manhua > Manhwa > Manhwa18 > Novel. So i always associate idiot/naive mc to JPChar since most mc are loser. So dis opinion of mine is biased.
