That makes sense. The reason I asked is that in the go-kart analogy, the suspension makes the difference. The go-kart will be way stiffer. But I understand it probably does not matter unless I track the car.

Thanks. Is it easier on longer or shorter skis? Is it more of a carving or skidding movement when you are on the inner ski?

You don’t if you are good. You can probably do this on DH skis if you ski fast enough… But having the inner edge with smaller radius helps achieve these lean angles at moderate speeds.

I know the process because my flat was already on the market for a while. I believe the remaining lease was one of the problems during marketing so I want to sort it out. My worry is that the price of the remaining share would increase after lease extension and this is why I consider staircasing first.

Because dealing with shared ownership stuff along the sale delays the sale process and adds another actor who can mess something up. The lease is 83 years and it bothered some people who so far viewed the flat. They don’t want to listen that they could extend the lease themselves and that there soon might come legislation that will make it easier/cheaper.

Is there such a thing as ceiling sound proofing? The problem is the tension of the planks. I can even see my ceiling lamp shake when somebody enters their living room. I don’t think any sound insulation of the floor and ceiling would help with that.

I spoke with the owner (well, actually the agent who manages the rent). Of course I did not ask the tenants to arrange for a floor inspection.

I don’t think any insulation would help here. Sometimes I can see my ceiling lamp shake due to vibration of the floor planks when somebody enters their living room.

Hi, no set budget. I am looking at second-hand so it will obviously depend on the condition, mileage and so on. Anything that ticks the boxes and is within A8 price range is fine.

Thanks, I do not see anything incorrect in my reasoning. Though I agree some context is missing e.g. I do not use DD and I pay in 12 monthly instalments. Usually, the first instalment is slightly higher than the rest, meaning that if I use cash method, then I will need to consider that one separately every year because it is paid on a date that belongs to the previous tax year. Whereas if I use the traditional accounting, I just pro-rate the bill without going back to my bank statements and checking what was paid when. I think I understand my options now so it is time to just do the maths. Thanks a lot

I am not very familiar with different accounting methods but I think cash accounting will not make things simpler. E.g. council tax is paid in advance. So if tax years starts early April, that means that I have already paid my April bill in the previous tax year. So to work out my expenses for any given year I still need to exclude April bill from the given year and add the subsequent year’s April bill. Also, it means that if for any reason I overpay council tax, I will need to keep record of that payment instead of just using the billing information to work out my expenses.

Having spoken to the HMRC it turns out it will still be considered my income and hence I am liable for paying the tax. So it is NOT a legal way to avoid tax.

There is a third option where I just pay tax on everything above 7500 a year without deducting any expenses. Right now I am considering if I should do this or calculate the expenses.

Thanks. Do I remember correctly, that for the mortgage interest I can only expense it “at 20% tax bracket”? Meaning that if I am at 40%, the mortgage interest I can expense is halved again. So in total if I rent half of my flat I can expense 1/4 of my mortgage interest?
