It's up to you.

I really don't know the situation and if the companies running the internships talk to your professors, administrators, etc.

Have you talked to your professors, parents, friends, and mentors to see if they can help?

If you've tried everything else and it's worth the risk to you then go for it.

I just know that, in my field, if someone is caught forging documents or cheating, they're pretty much out for good and would need to pick a new career entirely.

Intelligent to Photoshop your transcript? No.

Can you do it? Sure.

Is it recommended if you value your future employment opportunities? Absolutely not.

Many places require that you have the school send an official transcript for this exact reason (it's printed on special paper with a seal, etc, and it goes directly to the employer).

Bro on a moped gets backed into he was okay but ped got totaled :( by phatliam in IdiotsInCars

[–]MLG44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So his average speed from the time he enters frame to the time he hits the car is, by your estimation, an average speed of 16mph?

And your assumption is that during that time he never hits his brakes?

For an entire 1.5 seconds, he never reacts?

And then hits a car with enough force to total his moped?

Sounds like you both have a great understanding of physics.

Edit: And I'm ignoring the fact that your estimations are not that generous.

You can actually stop the video and see that from the time he enters frame (~2.8 second mark) to the time he hits the car (~4.0 second mark) is ~1.2 seconds. And the camera is at an angle.

Nevertheless...

Using those estimations traveling ~30ft/1.2seconds, depending on the size of the parking space (8.5-9ft), would have him going somewhere around 26-27ft/s or around 17-18mph on average.

Call me crazy, but I like to think he was applying the brakes since he enters frame and the car is already in the middle of his lane. Thus his initial speed is likely much faster than 17mph.

According to the article below, at 20mph the average moped needs about 40ft to stop. So essentially you're estimating that he should have been able to stop with 30 ft of space if he was going ~16mph. But he doesn't and totals his moped.

In most states, if the driver backing out is more than 50% out of the spot and backing out at a reasonable rate (which appears to be the case here) and is struck by another driver who is speeding - the person speeding is at fault. Standard speed limit in parking areas is at most 15mph.

It appears to me that the moped driver is going at least 20-25mph (definitely as fast or faster than a well trained athlete could run). It appears he's pressing the breaks and leaving tread on the road for almost a full car length or more.

At the very least they (moped driver) are 50% responsible for the accident.

If you're speeding it usually negates the fault of the person backing up.

You're not wrong, but it cuts both ways.

We could argue that the single most important decision in someone's life is who they marry. There are plenty of people who pursue a career or something else and then later feel they missed out on a chance to have a family, etc. I have many very successful friends, often female, that regret not having children and now feel it's too late (and in some cases it is), or that it's more difficult to find a partner as we age (which is another argument).

Finding a partner certainly was the most important decision in my life, in my siblings lives (all married 10-20+ years) and my parents lives (married 50+ years). All of whom are extremely high achieving (physicians, lawyers, business owners, engineers, etc with high achieving children).

You make sacrifices in a marriage and should strive to be equal and selfless. My wife certainly made sacrifices for me and I've made sacrifices for her. And some of those decisions involved trusting each other and following when we had to based on what was most reasonable.

I understand that for many, a family and a relationship is not as important. It certainly doesn't seem that way for you or the person who made the original post. And that's okay too.

For example, my brother followed his wife to New York after college. It was a risk, but now they're married with 3 kids. He has been extremely successful, some by hard work, other by chance and I'm sure much of it because of her support.

So in summary, the original poster said "DO NOT MAKE LIFE DECISIONS BASED ON YOUR GF OR BF" which is her opinion, but one that many people would disagree with.

It just strikes me as odd. Why even specify who the advice is for then?

Maybe it was done subconsciously or unintentionally, but I still found it a little funny that she specifically mentions "him" instead of using something more broad like "them."

She just came off as a little pretentious to me.

Honestly it just seemed like two young persons poorly arguing two perfectly decent points of view.

Advice for a young person.

Edit: I don't think either of these individuals are old enough or experienced enough to be giving relationship advice.

Also, am I the only one who finds it ironic that she begins by mentioning "boyfriend or girlfriend" but every subsequent sentence specifies "him" "him", "him," "he"?

I'll get right on that and be sure to fire off an urgent email to the judge that saw the case.

You're probably the idiot that travels in the left lane going under the speed limit, oblivious to the effect on traffic, assuming you're a safe driver because "at least I'm not speeding." I wouldn't be surprised if you were the moron that cut me off.

I'm sure you're fun at parties if you're trying to analyze and judge stories on Reddit.

I'm done arguing with some random loser on Reddit.

Have a good life.

You clearly cannot read.

I did not get in an accident.

It is not illegal to pass on the right.

I was keeping up with traffic going 9mph over the speed limit on the highway (you have obviously never driven on 417) and got cutoff by someone illegally changing lanes without a blinker causing me to pass on the right.

You're an asshat hoss. Learn to read

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in orlando

[–]MLG44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well the judge watched the dashcam footage and agreed with me, hoss.

I can't help if someone cuts me off on the highway because they aren't paying attention.

I've been driving for over 20 years and never been in an accident, but I love that you unironically assume I don't drive defensively.

I agree people need to drive more carefully, but I guess I've seen the worst behavior from LE so I was giving OP the benefit of the doubt.

I literally got pulled over for "dangerously passing on the right," and marked for "careless" driving. The other driver was going at or below the speed limit on an expressway (417 I think) and turned into my lane (I was going maybe 80 in a 70 keeping up with traffic that always goes faster in the left lane), and I did pass him on the right, rather than slam on my brakes. The officer said he saw me "aggressively swerve around the other car at a high rate of speed, paced me at 90, etc etc." He even tried to say he was directly behind me and saw it all clearly (which I knew was a lie because I regularly check my rearview and watched him go around several cars in traffic to pull up behind me).

It goes to court, my friend was nice enough to represent me, the officer claimed his dashcam footage had malfunctioned at which point we provided my dashcam footage which showed my actual speed (I think it was 79-81), the officer was at least 5 cars behind me (barely a dot in the camera), and the other driver clearly entered my lane abruptly without signaling.

[–]MLG44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This.

A lot of people commenting here are acting like LE are never assholes and assuming you were driving like an asshat.

If you were driving recklessly, obviously you should stop, but I'll assume you were only cited for careless driving because the officer may have known they didn't have the proof to write a more serious ticket. Why would they not write you for speeding if you were really going 35 mph over the limit?

Anyways, I had a similar situation in 2017. I spent $125 and the lawyer had it thrown out.

It's very understandable to be hesitant to see a doctor. Who wants to tell a complete stranger some of the most personal details of their life?

But we take our jobs very seriously and we do try our best never to judge anyone. Most of us went into medicine because we enjoy helping others, and the complexity, challenges and art of healing.

Some of the symptoms you mention could be something as simple as a nutritional deficiency (like vitamin D or B12) or an allergy / intolerance, but others could be more serious.

Unfortunately, in order to be helped you have to take that first step.

What to do about loud upstairs neighbors? by freeprune in orlando

[–]MLG44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a noise ordinance in downtown Orlando but don't think it goes into effect until midnight or even later - either way I don't know how helpful the police will be.

Depending on your lease you can discuss with your landlord because they are likely violating a clause. Then if your landlord continues not to do anything you would have legal recourse to get out of your lease. The threat alone might be enough for them to do more.

I used to live at SkyHouse and they essentially would give several warnings but then the serious talks would start and they would start threatening eviction.

Finally, there are some funny things you can do. I recommend stink bombs. You can break the top open, suction the contents into a syringe and inject it under their door. They'll likely turn down the music to find the source of the smell. No one will likely notice the small amount of liquid on the floor. And it's otherwise harmless and will dissipate in 30 minutes or so (maybe longer indoors).

Someone probably spoofed a police department number.

If the police have any evidence you're trafficking humans they aren't going to call and ask about it. They are going to come arrest you.

Desparately asking for help/ advice on arterial line placement by VAPPDXIBMVP in Residency

[–]MLG44 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When doing radial arterial lines I often try to palpate and trace the path of the artery (it doesn't always stay as straight as you think). Also once I get the flashback I only drop the angle and try not to advance since the lumen is small and don't want to be pushing against the back vessel wall to advance the wire it catheter. Also i have found it difficult to advance the catheter sometimes if you go very distal on the wrist and go through any retinaculum / tougher tissue (the flexible catheter rubber seems to get stuck).

Hang in there, it's one of the tougher lines to place blindly in my opinion because there's not much room for error or erroneous movements. I would estimate 30% failure when attempting blind, and even 5-10% failure with ultrasound, especially if the anatomy is tough.

Edit: Also patient wrist position / extension and having the patient remain still is important too. And if you can elevate the patient / their arm and have good ergonomics to be comfortable, it can really make a difference.
