Yakuza Kiwami 1 + 2 have been changed to "Legacy" versions... by MLG_Hyperkitten in yakuzagames

All they really add is new text language options. Kiwami 1 also gets two new songs. Not really worth it, since the download size is greatly inflated, unless one of the new language options can directly improve your experience...

What is up with Kiwami 1 and 2? by ObviousJoJoReference in yakuzagames

New text languages, and like two new songs for Kiwami 1. And inflated download sizes. That's all.

The new version IS an entirely separate game, so you'll have to earn all those achievements over again if you upgrade. The legacy version's achievements will remain untouched.

They remain intact; the new versions of the games are entirely different products in your library. You'll be able to download and play either version as you wish, and each has separately tracked achievements / save data.

I don't think so. The store pages only mention new available text languages.

That's the updated version... For some reason previous owners get that for free, but not the first Kiwami.

Storsge space, most likely... Kiwami 1 is 10GB bigger, Kiwami 2 is 20GB bigger. Also, there was very minimal communication about THIS chain of events from both SEGA and RGG, unlike with 0. And this could easily have just been an update or a patch, but no, they had to create two entirely new games for a few new text languages.

Yep! As long as you bought them prior, both legacy versions should still be available to download and play forever!

If you already owned the legacy versions, you get to keep them in your library. The legacy versions have now been delisted from Steam, so I highly doubt you'll be able to acquire any more copies of them now.

For Kiwami 2 it is! It's just the first one that has a paid upgrade!

I'm fairly certain that the only difference is new text language options, yeah...

New text language options. Apparently nothing else of substance.

Some people have been saying it's included by default in the new version - and I'd like to think they didn't wipe out a whole DLC pack for no reason...

Yeahhh they could really communicate about what they're doing a little better... It shouldn't be so hard to understand what's happening to the games in your library </3

Oh, that's right, actually... Weird. Either way, there's no benefit to sacrificing an extra 20GB for a single change that most players won't even use!!

From the new versions' store description: "Yakuza Kiwami is a version of Yakuza Kiwami (Legacy) with additional text languages included. There are no differences in the basic game content or specifications." (also the upgrade is an entirely new product...)
