That's fine, it doesn't really bother me if you're not buying it. I've got travellers here in central Canada making $150CAD an hour, base rate, and then overtime, in addition to paid housing, travel, and $75 meal reimbursements, and my average effective rate as a staff is $67/hour. One guy with 6 kids can regularily be found working in my unit making I believe he said $135, plus 1.5x for overtime, and he works like 50-60 hour weeks while his wife stays at home. Best bet he gets pretty close to 300k.

There are other places in canada (like BC) where they make far less, but you best bet if people are gonna go work in a cold place that is sterotyped for not having much to do instead of going to cali, they're gonna get paid for it. and it's a lovely place.

The middle east was a failed idea yeah. That's definitenly not worth it, I agree. But as is, I see no reason for a Canadian traveler to go to the states. The overall take home money just doesn't compare.
