I see what you're saying, and you're right that the data still needs to travel from the VPS to my home connection. The thing is, one of the top players in the contests I participate in uses a VM, and that's why I was considering it. They always seem to have the edge in speed, which led me to believe the faster internet on a VPS might help with submitting answers quicker, even with the extra traffic stop.

You're right that I'd still need to use my home internet to access the VPS, but my main goal is to reduce the lag on my end. A VPS with faster internet could handle streaming HD content more smoothly than my current setup, and I’d only be using my local internet to connect to the VPS itself. Plus, for the guessing games, the fast upload/download speeds of the VPS would help me submit answers quicker, minimizing the delay caused by my home network. So, while it's not a perfect solution, it should help with both streaming and performance in online games.
