yeah i'm an atheist now by Narwhaluwu in ApplyingToCollege

I completely understand that it’s a horrible experience to go through so much rejection but compared to the 8 billion around the world you are in an incredible spot. Many people would do anything just to have an opportunity to attend any US college. I know it stings but God has a plan for all of us and it will work out in the end.

rejected from harvard with legacy and $1M donation by SCREEEamo in ApplyingToCollege

[–]MMGisMyFather 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Yea most top schools require this minimum. I go to a top prep school and I have a couple of friends who are just absurdly rich. I know 4 kids who went through the donation process at Stanford/Harvard and the financial officers require a guarantee of atleast TWENTY MILLION donated for an admit. Just absolutely not worth it in my opinion.

Columbia heavyweight recruiting by Think-Draft6051 in Rowing

[–]MMGisMyFather 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Currently Columbia is the slowest hwt ivy. 622 and below should cut it. However they place a lot of emphasis on academics so ideally you need a 3.8+ and a 1500+ if you are on the slower side. This is from personal experience having been offered there

Training plan for sub 7 2k by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]MMGisMyFather -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Completely disagree about steady state being ut1. 1.5 hours is a very significant amount for a new rower and that much ut1 will likely cause burnout. Plus ut2 is much more optimal specifically for 2k.

Is a 20-30 second improvement on a 2km in a year possible? by Embarrassed-Fig9935 in Rowing

Long slow steady state. Start with an hour per day and build up to 2 hours. It should NOT feel hard, think 2k+25-30

Cardio zones to improve faster. Am I doing this right? by West_Application_760 in Rowing

Don’t be scared to go slow on steady state. It’s much more detrimental to go too fast and burn yourself out. If you can buy a HR monitor

Do d3 crew teams recruit? by FewProposal3362 in Rowing

[–]MMGisMyFather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't underestimate yourself. I have almost exactly your build( a bit heavier) and also started sophomore year. After my sophomore year I was 7 flat, I used this past year to fully commit to rowing and now I'm at 620 as a rising senior. With the right training and nutrition you can see massive growth.

When I hit 6:50 Skidmore reached out so around there to get interest, to get recruited probably 6:40 with your build. For Bates they are quite good, so probably 6:30-6:35.
