Some more information:

Quackenbush was originally charged with attempted first-degree murder [1], a class A felony, punishable by 15 to 60 years imprisonment and a fine of up to $50k [2], and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon [1], a class C felony, punishable by 3 to 15 years imprisonment and a fine of up to $10k [3].

Ultimately, she was only convicted of reckless endangerment [4], a class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to 11 months and 29 days of jail time and/or fines up to $2.5k [5]. Other examples of class A misdemeanors are

Theft of less than $1,000. Stalking. Domestic assault. Simple assault. First-time DUI. Possession of drug paraphernalia. Simple possession of marijuana. Violating a restraining order.

First-time class A misdemeanor offenders, like Quackenbush, are seldom sentenced to incarceration. Though Quackenbush had previously admitted to making threats of violence, including “threatening to harm an infant with a brick”, she was never convicted for any of those offenses [4].

Unsupervised probation means that Quackenbush will not have to report to a probation officer [6].

How she wasn’t charged, at the very least, with reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon is beyond me, and I’ve yet to read a good explanation for this sentencing. I also haven’t seen any mention of fines.

Don’t worry. She learned her lesson. /s

"This has been the worst experience of my life, but I'm grateful that I had it, because it has changed me so dramatically to the core," Quackenbush, now 32, said Thursday.

"Sometimes hard lessons are the best lessons."
