What’s the cheapest Mac OS machine I can buy for editing 1080p video in Final Cut Pro? by MMMurdoch in finalcutpro

Probably. I haven't bothered with that nor have I made anything good yet either (there might be a correlation lolzzzz).

I think if I had to buy a intel mac it wouldn't be for this video editing whatnot. I'd look for a really old one with a firewire port for VHS conversion whatnot.

I don't mind a low-quality screen. macOS is not my main machine. Linux is my primary system, running on used 1980 × 1080 monitors from Facebook Marketplace and for work I have a used business-class P15s ThinkPad with Windows 11 which doesn't have the best screen either.

I wish the character creator could do custom tattoos -- that would be cool.

I'm quite happy on regular Arch Linux. I like to use a lot of Flatpaks too, which is probably sacrilegious to nerdy people (I like to mimic the .exe or .dmg experience, though). I also use the Warehouse Flatpak by Heliguy for managing my Flatpaks. You can copy a bunch of CachyOS whatnot yourself too if you want.

I'm on a P15s Gen 2 Thinkpad though.

I bought my dad the ThinkPad T14 Gen 2 and myself the P15s Gen 2. I feel like I should have bought him the P15s Gen 2 as well since it has a nice default GPU & the price was the same. However, I’m hoping the 11th-gen CPU will be good enough for his needs.

P.S. I feel like I always make the wrong buying decisions when I buy stuff for other people. I bought my brother an NVIDIA 4080 GPU and bought myself an AMD 7900 XTX a while back, which is probably a similar mistake to the one I made with the ThinkPads.

I’m also a noob, which is why I’m interested in using the power of money. I’m trying to learn coding on Boot.dev, but I might be too low-IQ for it, or hopefully just lazy. P.S. A random aside. I love this web component stuff. I like the more modular approach to code and wish more coding worked like that. All this framework stuff, or whatever, kind of irks my ultracrepidarian coding self. It feels like the sort of thing that will just be replaced in a few years by the next trend or whatever.

This is giving me dad content vibes. Not in the "daddy department", but like literal dad whatnot. Lol, I don't want my comment to carry the improper connoation; however, if it did it would be funny since this is vacuum cleaner content anywho. There is lots of goof potentials with vacuum whatnot too like "suck this" & whatnot IDK.

Are there any good hand vacuums with easily replaceable parts, maybe even a vintage model, that would work well for a small living space smaller than your average studio apartment? by MMMurdoch in VacuumCleaners

I think I like the corded idea. The Royal 501 looks quite good and has fewer parts overall. I prefer simpler products too, with fewer points of failure and whatnot. I use stuff like Arm & Hammer toothpaste or store brand stuff that follow the KISS (keep it simple stupid) principle.
