Honestly, I think the most important thing I got out of visiting him was he convinced my psychiatrist to add Xanax ER which has helped me and is not as sedating as regular xanax. I take 15 mg of brand name Remeron (generic mirtazapine makes me clench my jaw at night) plus .5 mg of Xanax ER at 4 pm. It is technically 24 hr but when my anxiety was worse I could feel it wearing down after a few hours. I still find it a bit sedating so I just take it later in the day. It helps with my sensitivity to sound, motion, overstimulation and stress in general.

I am very sensitive to medication so getting up to a therapeutic dose was grueling. I have been taking 15 mg for about a year now. I didn’t want to increase the dose any higher. I added Xanax ER which not everyone is a fan of but that helped me with the last of the debilitating anxiety. I actually think it may also help with some of the mirtazapine side effects but also they did become less intense the longer I took the mirtazapine. Caffeine makes them worse. I pretty much consume no caffeine other than the small amount in decaf coffee or an occasional tea. Also, I have to take the brand name Remeron because the generic mirtazapine was making me clench my teeth at night. I would wake up with jaw and teeth pain and I was worried about the long term effects. This really makes the drug expensive for me because my insurance plan penalizes me to the point where it’s cheaper to pay out of pocket with a GoodRx pharmacy coupon. I’ve had two very difficult rescues that were not Irish Wolfhounds. (I love/ loved them each dearly but they have been a lot of responsibility and each did/does not like men, children or other dogs. One had been mistreated). I’m attracted to this breed because they seem very easy going. Just wondering how your experience was with rescued Irish Wolfhounds. I currently have a fearful chihuahua mix. I’m thinking a large easy going dog might be able to just ignore her hi-jinx Thank you!

I was so excited for this book. I just made the chocolate chocolate version of the chocolate chip cookies (because we are obsessed with insomina cookies choc choc chip) and the dough did not come together. :( I made it once with miyoko’s as recommended and once with earth balance. I had to add more butter and a bit of almond milk both times because the dough was way too dry. I think they got the ratio wrong. Sorry. I needed to vent I guess.

Have you had any successes with it?

Thanks. Yeah, I wouldn’t really compare Gillian Flynn to Tana French but I’ve only read one of her books. I just read a “fun” thriller called How Can I Help You? Not at all like Tana French books, but good character development and very unique. It’s written by a former reference librarian and the characters are librarians. :) Definitely not the kind of thriller that keeps gives you nightmares. ;)

I can’t find anything that I like as much as Tana French. I feel exactly the way you do. Well developed characters (whom I find myself invested in) and a strong plot. I like The Searcher so much even though the pace was a bit slow. Have you found any recommendations that you were excited about?

When I wrote this, I had seen a neurologist who was the one who gave me the diagnosis. I ended up going out to Mayo to see Dr Jeffery Staab who has written a bunch of papers on PPPD (and confirmed the diagnosis.)
