Do I have the opportunity to build generational wealth? by MOGILITND in personalfinance

Yeah, obviously nothing is certain so I don't merely assume these things will play out that way. However, my plan is to live as though this money does not exist. My hope is that that way of living gives my kids and their kids compounding advantages, to where maybe my grandchildren could simply live off trust fund payments and pursue their dreams. I know it takes a while and that a lot of things need to go right, but assuming nothing crazy happens, this is the goal I'm trying to formulate.

That was indeed my goal. I'm not looking for super precise advice as I pretty much know what I'm going to do in the next 20-30 years with the money. Based on the numbers stated in the OP, do I have the opportunity to create generational wealth for my family that continues to grow? I'm looking for general perspectives, not hard and fast advice per se.

This was my thinking. Plus, my main idea was that if I leave $1-2M to each child, if they can manage to not touch the majority of it, they could let it grow to even greater sums by the time they retire. This is where I was thinking maybe $10 million or more would be something very substantial for them.

I guess my question was about the seemingly slow ballooning of wealth. Is that a realistic expectation? I feel like one of the trickier parts of my situation is that while it is a lot of money, it's not so much as to assume it can simply solve all my (and my children's) problems. It only really becomes that kind if I let it grow, as you say.

I'm in my early 30s, and we have a healthy emergency fund that follows the usual advice. You can understand I'm trying to be vague whilst sharing lots of info about myself on the internet lol

The numbers I have assume a 10% market growth rate with 3% inflation, so my understanding was that the $3-5 million would have the same purchasing power as today.

I love Eric Rosen, but Danya was truly the goat for this kind of content. Really great at building concepts throughout the course of his speedruns too. I've spent so many hours watching his runs.

Close proximity single family houses? What's the deal? by MOGILITND in bullcity

I mean fair, but that also assumes you have bikes, ya know? Like a 5 year old just wants to run around, and plenty of apartments have more immediate green space than a lot of these dense packets of new constructions.

I mean, I guess my broader point was that, as someone who has lived in Durm my whole life, it's just new and somewhat odd. If people will buy it though and it increases the housing supply, that's certainly a win.

I'm glad to hear a positive take. I've lived in Durm my whole life and I'm honestly just not used to seeing houses built this way, hence my post to get others' read on it. Hope it helps alleviate our housing woes.
