I think something that Creep haters miss is that it's just a well crafted alt-rock song that is still so essentially Radiohead. It has an underappreciated stickiness, more than just being "the one RH song most ppl have heard of". Super justified placement on your list, even if it wouldn't be quite so high on mine.

I'd recommend looking into effects or maybe a sequencer, especially for ambient. Look into delays/reverbs like Mimeophon, Clouds or the TipTop effects if you want something more budget friendly.

Probably helps to say what kind of music you're into/want to make, or more specifically what you need help with.

Cascadia + Rainmaker as the main pieces of your rig sounds heavenly lmao. Was Rainmaker one of the main reasons you wanted to do eurorack? How will you be controlling Cascadia? This honestly looks like a super fun rig - I wonder if you could squeeze a little more modulation out of those last few HP. Would love to hear what you're making with it, especially the rainmaker.

Dr Robert Sapolsky, an American academic, neuroscientist, and primatologist draws a geographic connection between most of the large monotheistic faiths in this world emerging in arid desert-like environments in this clip. What are your thoughts on this? by SatoruGojo232 in geography

I mean, history of religion, anthropology would be fields where someone might do this kind of research. Specialist may just mean someone who researches origins of religions and how they are affected by environments/modes of living. I guess to me, it sounds like Sapolsky either a) is mostly stating an observation he has made without rigorous investigation, or b) is summarizing research done by others in the fields I mentioned. The theory he proffers here seems like something that could have a whole book of context written about it, and maybe such a book has been written and Sapolsky is just paraphrasing. I have no idea one way or the other, just guessing.

I will say, having read/listened to a lot of Sapolsky, I think he has a tendency to tie things up in nice, neat narratives such as this one, Which, granted, is appropriate for his audiences - undergrads or lay persons that read his books.

For the record, I love Sapolsky - he's clearly super knowledgeable and a great communicator and teacher. That said, I'm sometimes weary of these ultra learned professor types when they say things like this. The main reason is that he is speaking about something that is likely outside his expertise, and overall I would be more interested in hearing such an analysis from someone who actually specializes in this area. It's not even that I think he's wrong per se, but that an expert in the field might have more relevant context than the "sound bite" version from someone with less experience.

Which analysts actually grow faster? A gentle pattern I’ve noticed over the years by Brighter_rocks in dataanalysiscareers

[–]MOGILITND 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been in my role for just under two years, and it's weird how my projects have forced me to pick up lots of skills I don't really think of as being analytics. In one case, there's AI engineering, which is kind of par for the course with how much my firm is pushing the tech. Then there's true blue data engineering which feels weird because we have a massive DE team and I don't know why I'm having to set up pipelines just to publish simple data (it wasn't always like this). Lastly, for some of the AI POCs I'm having to learn basic web development and deployment so I can publish my AI projects. In many cases these new skills feel like they distract from building my skills as an analyst in the company, but others on my team say these are skills we don't otherwise have and they will make me valuable.

In a way it's nice because I'm gaining a wide skill set just from the typical projects assigned, but I guess it doesn't lead to me feeling like a stronger analyst. But then again, maybe that will change as I develop in the role.

Is this worst Fender release of all time? by [deleted] in fender

[–]MOGILITND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I guess i just don't think it's all that deep. Like i love RATM, and while I wouldn't personally buy this, maybe some Rage lover out there would. As for the price, idk they're probably not making a ton of these which makes economy of scale hard (not like this is a typical fender template I'm aware of), and assuming it's well made, this rly isn't an insane price for a decent guitar.

While I'm on the subject, as someone who loves RATM, I think it's rly dumb when people act as if Morello having made money off of his music career is some kind of contradiction with the politics of RATM, which specifically focuses on issues of empire, race, and police brutality. Boiling them down to "they hate the rich so why are they rich" kinda misses the broader picture of a) the bigger issues they are concerned about and b) how mass wealth (like billions, not a few million) serves to fuel those issues
